We had an absolutely fantastic weekend at the Hefel Hollow range near Durango. Many thanks to Lyle for sharing his beautiful range with our group. Both the temperature and the humidity dropped for the weekend so it was very comfortable in the well shaded canyon that reminds me of a well kept state park. In one word, it was Fabulous!
It was exciting to have eleven shooters who all came ready to learn. Many congratulations to Trista and Sheryl for earning their rifleman patches. Your persistence and endurance paid off. Congratulations as well to Kurt for re-qualifying using a bolt action rifle with iron sights. Greg was right there with scores of 204 & 209. If it were not for malfunctions during stages two and three he would have made rifleman. I'm expecting he'll make it next time. Kudos to everyone else as well. You all showed a marked improvement in your marksmanship skills and I very much enjoyed working with everyone. I trust the stories from April 19th provided you with a more clear picture of liberty and the sacrifices our founding fathers made for our benefit.
And finally, thank you James for helping instruct this weekend. You are progressing well through the instructor training and I'm excited to have a partner in the eastern Iowa region who shares the vision of restoring our heritage.
I'll post our riflemen and group pictures under a separate post in a couple of days.
