Hot? Sure, but it was a dry heat right? Thank the Lord for the breeze - made it tolerable. Eight fine Americans from age 10 - 67 came out to brave the Florida heat and reach for a Rifleman score on the venerable AQT. While only two made it all the way, not a complaint were to be heard - not even from young Jacob.
I believe this was David's third event and he got his patch! He also vowed to keep coming to maintain his skills. We'd love to see him make score on the new Garand he is considering getting! O0
Sophia came Sunday with her dad, the newly minted IIT "CyberGuy" and she also made Rifleman - huzaaah! Them sneaky instructors didn't tell her that she had made score earlier on Sunday and when she heard it, the look on her face was priceless! It's moments like those that keep me at this eleven years later.
Another instructor father and son could only make Saturday - Ken and Kenny. So great to see families spending quality time together - it's a rare and precious gift in our time.
Rick and Vickie toughed it out all weekend and showed great improvement. Vickie assured me she wants my "Liberty Library" book list and it will be my honor to send same to her once she emails me. It's very rewarding to see people display an interest in our unique American heritage.
A third father and son team was present and accounted for in Terry and Grady - hope to see you both back again soon!
Jacob, mentioned above was also with his father - Jim. Jim rocked the center fire all weekend. I just love the bark of a real rifle! :snipersmi
I want to thank all of you for braving the heat and attending this event. I also want to thank the instructors who showed up to bail me out, when a week before the event I discovered that I had failed to solicit a single fellow instructor and was looking at working the event solo, which would have denied the students the personal attention they richly deserve.

Whoo-Hooo Sophia! Shoot like a girl IF you can! So proud of you. I was impressed with your positive attitude when I had the honor of working with you back in April. Is there an orange at in your future?

All right Sophia....Huzzah!!!

So so proud of you Sophia! I knew you could do it! And congrats to David as well.
Everyone had such an amazing attitude, despite the heat. I loved working with 10 year old Jacob, who was plucky and good-natured and never complained once. Vickie showed amazing persistence and I could see right away that she "gets it." Awesome job everyone!
Hope to see you all again soon!
Huzzah!
