Title: AAR Rainbow, CA June 16-17 2018

Another great shoot at Rainbow Range with a great group of shooters and instructors alike. 18 participants Saturday with 17 returning Sunday, the vast majority of shooters were shooting Ruger 10/22's with a good deal of them essentially new out of the box. After the pledge and introductions we got down to introducing the program, and the safety instruction. We shot the morning Redcoat which showed we had room for improvement, let the fire hose of instruction begin. We broke for lunch and delivered the Three Strikes which were well received, after lunch more instruction and one AQT. Sunday the pledge, safety instruction and we got down to the business of instruction review. We finished up the instruction and got two AQT's in before lunch, the history of the Dangerous Old Men and Women was told at lunch along with a sobering reminder of what these patriots risked and lost. I heard from one of the fathers that his young son and friend were both talking after the shoot about the history lessons delivered, This is what it's really about, bringing the history of our forefathers to life and having it remembered by the youth attending the event. After lunch we got in four more AQT's and the Redcoat. We had one shooter John shoot his Rifleman score with a 219, Sarah and Brian were up in the mid 180's, I am guessing both will shoot their rifleman score at their next event. All of the shooters improved throughout the weekend and were attentive to the history.  It was inspiring to see someone completely new to shooting become comfortable with the rifle and go away with a smile. Many of the group said they would be returning. Many Thanks to the dedicated group of instructors and my wife wearing the Blue hat, handling all of the admin duties as well as being an ambassador of the program to the people walking up.
