Title: CMP Talladega, AL AAR - June 2-3rd, 2018 Known Distance
Post by: Maximum Ordinate on June 04, 2018, 12:20:16 PM
It was hot.  90 degrees and over 80% humidity at times.  The Kestrel on the range showed a heat index of 117.

But that didn't slow down the shooters!  Nine folks from Maryland, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, and Virginia gathered at CMP Talldega for a KD weekend.  Undeterred by the heat, these guys did great!

We had two new Riflemen... five KD Riflemen... and John showed everyone what he was about with multiple Distinguished scores!

My thanks to the shooters who spent their weekend with us, the incredibly skilled and professional instructor team (Cokeguy, Cleveland, GlockMike, and Mixed Metaphor), and also to our host range.  Devin, your team is always top notch!

I'll post some more later this week, including some pictures... but here is our traditional group photo.  :)

Rusty

Huzzah! Looks like a great group! Little Buddy, Yankee and I can't wait to get back that way!

(Is it just me or are there a couple returning Appleseeders in that group? Looks like a couple brothers we may know?!?)

You do recognize a couple of brothers, Jeff and Spencer... and they brought a third brother, Kyle T!  They asked about you and your family!  It was also cool to see a father-son pair on the line (Sofijan and Ethan).  Dad was already multiple KD qualified & his son is still working on it.

I'm so proud of these shooters... they earned their KD patches the proper way - shooting beyond 300 yards.

- John led the day, rocking out 47, 47, 48, 49, 49/50.  He knows what he's about!  HUZZAH!
- Spencer requalified with a couple of 45/50 scores!
- Kyle C. earned his Rifleman patch & KD bar with a 47/50... negotiating sporty winds at 600 yards!
- Brad did great and qualified at 600 yards!
- Jason posted two KD scores!

And of course, we can't forget a youth patch for Ethan, who kept slugging it out even though he was having mechanical issues with his rifle!

Most everyone else is just knocking on the door.  Remember... a Rifleman persists.

I hope to see all of you again on the line someday soon!

Still shooting a reduced target at 300 that represents 400 yards? I remember doing that when I was there in July 2016. 600 is 600 that's for sure.

Good shooting everyone.
