Thank God for another productive Appleseed here. We had 16 shooters and three instructors come out and spend the day. Nice weather, overcast but warm (for April). The group was in high spirits even though the soggy ground was soaking through the shooting mats and mud and slick ground hampered moving around and transitions. Congrats to our 5 new riflemen. Seth, Justin scored rifleman and Denny, John, and Randy scored distinguished rifleman. A big thank you to our new orange hat, he was going to be Spectre but I see it's taken. We'll have to see what he comes up with. Pics to follow,

Denny here. Thanks to JoeZ for another well-run event, the third my dad and I have done under his leadership, and to red hats Iron Mike and Lead Line.
I decided to attend after meeting Randy and John at Daniel Boone a few weeks ago. I recognized the Appleseed targets they were shooting at, and we talked about the Distinguished patches that had been introduced this year. Who would have guessed that all three of us would earn one! My plan had been to shoot with a scoped rifle, but I challenged myself to make this attempt with irons. Those 400 yard targets sure look small through a peep sight.
The most memorable thing I took from the history lessons was Isaac Davis' parting words to his wife, "take good care of the children." Having had a premonition that he would die, and knowing that he was in a fight for a new nation, those children he had in mind may not have just been his own, but us as well.
I'm proud to have earned my Distinguished Rifleman patch and, I'm honored to have taken the orange hat. I look forward to doing my part to help others obtain the skills and knowledge that Appleseed has provided me.
Well done to Joe and his top notch instructors! Congratulations to the newest Rifleman at the Danial Boone Conservation Club.
Many thanks to JoeZ, LeadLine, and IronMike for a terrific clinic, being the first ones there, the last ones to leave, and herding cats all day in between.
Earning a distinguished patch wouldn't have been possible without their help. Augray has inspired me to shoot the September clinic with opens, and I look forward to encouraging others to take part.
One in the chamber,
Randy.
Thank you Martin.

Three motivated Americans meet at a gun club while practicing and form a plan which involves marksmanship and then they succeed in spectacular fashion. This is really no surprise but rather we should see it as the logical result of our efforts. We are not born exceptional, we must work at it, and work at it you did. The RWVA provided you with some direction, but the accomplishment here is all you. Bought, paid for, and sweated out. It was truly my honor to be part of your journey.
God bless,
JoeZ
I can tell it was a good Appleseed because I got a little sunburned somehow.
Always a pleasure to work with fellow Americans on the liberties we have and have been bequeathed. Thanks, everyone!
Plenty of sunshine up north also,,,,,,I got a little burned and we were under cover!
