Title: M14 sling swivel
Post by: daniel17319 on December 08, 2017, 04:51:50 PM
Im currently on the VA air rifle team we practice about twice a month. I do CMP matches ociasionally like 3 times year with my m1a. I have been to 2 appleseed clinics never qualified, and one KD range never qualified, slow process is better then no progress lol. Anyway I LOVE the way sling mounts on the air rifle can rotate 360 degrees and are on the swivel. No need to give the sling a half turn or quarter turn before you put your arm threw it. Does anyone make a mount like this for the service rifle. Also the Arrifle mounts just pop off like that with a press of a button, its freaking great.

Are you thinking of a QD swivel?

You might be able to install what are called "flush cups" into the wood. I'm not familiar enough with M1As to tell you if it's feasible.

Hopefully someone else here can chime in, or I'm afraid you're left to google it. Good luck!

The M1A forend is quite thin with little clearance on the inside, making DIY front QD swivel mounting tricky, especially the USGI fiberglass stock, which has a glue-line right down the center and can't take a lot of moment force or cutting/drilling there.  There are several aftermarket  solutions though, the one that comes immediately to mind is Sadlak.com, their QD post assembly consists of an inner and outer load-spreading clamp plate that bolt together throught the 2 existing holes for the stock front swivel rivets.  These are standard QDs though, and still won't "spin" swivel like the target rifle swivels, but you can at least disconnect it fast and easy.  If not for the CMP match part (I think it's against the rules) you could attach a target accesory rail to the rifle and use a rail-mount target sling mount like the ones you probably have on the air rifles.

If you want to shoot that rifle in leg matches, check the CMP rules. I don't thing it is legal.
