The best things come in small packages...and this was definitely true for this one day Known Distance event.
After a two hour classroom review of how a rifleman can use any rack grade rifle to own a quarter mile, three committed shooters headed out to the 500 yard bay.
Ron quickly found his pace. After several 25 meter qualifications at previous shoots, he put his better than 4 MOA accuracy to good use at 100, 200, 300, and 400 yards. Despite being the first time using his AR at distance, he cashed in with a rifleman score! Congrats Ron!
Darkfoot was right on pace but a little hiccup kept him just under the needed 'hits count' total. Still, it was a new personal best score at distance so nice job, Darkfoot!
I am not sure if the history sections were a motivator, but Tundra Badger channeled his inner Timothy Murphy to put up a 49 out of 50! His sole miss was a 100 yard standing shot 1/4" below the black. To make up for this he was sent to the 500 yard mark where he on cadence put up a perfect 10 for 10. Congrats on the impressive distance requalification!
The only disappointment was that the 15 mile-per-hour gusts which followed us throughout a thunderstorm and tornado watch were all zero value. I am sure that the shooters would have appreciated more time practicing wind adjustments. ;)
