It was another great weekend of shooting at the Piqua Fish and Game range. We had decent weather for November, and managed to avoid showers and storms that threatened the area.
Shooters were well equipped and all had great attitudes, making the instructor's jobs easy. It was also a very safe shoot; all students were very safety conscious. The Saturday morning numbers on the Red Coat target showed that we had some work to do, but this group soaked up the morning's instruction like a sponge! The very first scoring AQT on Saturday produced three new riflemen! Congratulations to Jesse M. with a 216, Dell A. with a 221, and Matt J. with a 233.
Sunday was like icing on the cake, with shooters eager to place more well aimed shots down range. Unfortunately we did lose a couple of shooters due to a long drive with threatening weather in the forecast, but I have a feeling they'll be back to Piqua in 2018.
We had rifleman's scores reconfirmed on Sunday with Dell shooting a 231, and Matt shooting another 233 and a 226.
We had the always popular pumpkin shoot again this year; the pumpkins were placed at the 100 yard line and shooter were given fifty seconds and twenty rounds apiece to do as much damage as possible. The Buckeye Trapper ran the line and used the quote from Major Buttrick at The North Bridge, "FIRE MEN! FOR GOD"S SAKE FIRE AS FAST AS YOU CAN."
We were blessed with yet another shooter accepting an Orange Hat; our thanks go to Andrew (Shadow870) for answering the call and joining the team.
The shoot ended a little early in the afternoon to avoid storms that were moving into the area, but it was a truly wonderful day non-the less.
Thanks go to a truly awesome instructor's team: Rattlehead, The Buckeye Trapper, Coyote 217, Doc Willi, Thomas F., and Haley Beth.

I want to thank the Red, Orange and Blue (Hayley) Hats for the wonderful instruction. I had a great time learning about our country's beginnings.

I just want to say what an awesome weekend it was. Congratulations to everyone who earned a rifleman patch.
I also wanted to say thanks again to all the instructors and to let you all know how grateful I am to be offered an orange hat. I am very much looking forward to being able to contribute to the next event!
