Title: Gainesville, FL Oct. 28-29 2017
Post by: Minutemom on October 31, 2017, 02:22:14 PM
14 patriots showed up at Gainesville Target Range this past weekend to improve their marksmanship skills and hear about our shared heritage as a nation of riflemen.  The weather was beautiful, and the shooters made steady progress throughout the day.  Congratulations to Wes and Dmitry for requalifying on Saturday!

Sunday started out a little cold, but determination and persistence prevailed, and 7, count them, 7 out of 12 shooters were revealed to be riflemen (and women)!!  Congrats to Wes, Austin, and Charles for requalifying, and a HUGE congratulations to our new riflemen Alan, Mike, Sofya, and Anastasia!  15 year old Anastasia had never fired a rifle before this weekend, and not only did she shoot the score on Sunday, but she did it twice, with a 212 and 217!  I see very great things ahead for this determined teenager.  She and our other two youths, Austin and Lucy, give me hope that our nation will be in good hands.

I also want to give a huge welcome to our newest orange hats - Clayton, Wes, and Austin!  Clayton and Wes have been eyeing that orange hat for some time now, and both finally decided to take the plunge.  Wes had a little help from his son Austin, who was also proud to don the orange hat after shooting the score for his second time.  Thanks for stepping up guys, and welcome to the cadre!  So happy to have you on board!

Thank you to Big Chris, Smoak, Randy, and Jean for making this shoot a success!  You are all so talented and hard-working, and I am privileged to be able to work with fine people such as yourselves.  Hope to see you all on the line next time!

Big Congrats all!
We missed our Appleseed Family in FL & awesome familiar students & friends.
Check out the AAR for Hot Springs, AR...bunches riflemen, new IITs, 2 red hat promotes.
We were also in AR to celebrate Bruce's sweet moms 88th birthday.
There's a video link on the AR after action too

Great time as always. Hats off to our shoot boss Minutemom  and the very experienced instructors accompanying her. They made for another excellent event. And it's always good to see and talk to Sid again. The only downside was not getting to see 9MM4545 and Rambo Granny again as I think they have been at just about every Gainesville event I have attended.

This event was special to me. Watching Clayton step up to the plate and take the orange hat and then my son Austin willing to take the hat and challenging me to it as well gave me the push I needed. I do realize that the Appleseed project requires folks that are  willing to step up and contribute to it with their time, energy and knowledge. I just hope, I truly hope, that I can effectively pass on to beginning Appleseeders a fraction of what the Appleseed family has passed on to me.

Lastly, I want to thank those that helped me and my son so much along the path. They include 9MM4545, Rambo Granny, Minutemom,  Smoakingun, B.C., Green Dragon, Cable Guy, Randy, Joe, and Evan.   You folks are truly a special group of people. Also, my sincere apologies if I have missed anyone - any omission is completely unintentional.
Hope to see all of you again soon.
Wes

Whoops, my bad. Need to add PHenry and Three'oEight to the previously posted list. Two more excellent instructors we had the privilege of learning from at a Hernando Appleseed. Sorry for the oversight.
