Title: Puryear, TN, KD - September 30-October 1, 2017
Post by: dond on October 04, 2017, 03:36:09 PM
Seven serious shooters gathered on the Puryear, TN, 600 yard range for some intense instruction and shooting. Saturday began with instruction and history. We were hampered some by the hard ground but we overcame it and finally managed to set up the targets. More history was presented at lunch, and then two shooters earned their KD patches afterwards. This successful day was aptly concluded with a highly enjoyable supper outdoors at a local restaurant where we dined on delicious barbecue sandwiches and ribs with all the fixin's.

Sunday began with more history and then range estimation instruction. This instruction was then applied to three targets placed at random distances on the range. All the calculations were well done, and some were exceedingly accurate, coming within one or two yards of the measured distances. This was followed by more history at lunch and then more KD AQTs where some repeat scores were accomplished. One excellent shooter barely missed attaining the goal with two 39s. He will return.

I am truly grateful for Old Navy Doc's assistance at this event. He contributed greatly to its success.  O0

Thanks to Don & his better half  ;) for setting up a nice KD event & inviting us out! The weather was great, and the range was very nice. The instruction was good, and Don even patiently watched as I tried my hand at shooting a few AQTs using an AKM with iron sights!  ::) I couldn't quite wring out enough points, but it was a fun challenge. Special thanks to Old Navy Doc for loaning me his AK, and apologies to KY Marine Angel1, who, two lanes over, received most of my brass.  >:D

My sincere congrats to DonD for a fantastic KD. The weather and company were superb and the shooters all showed incredible improvement.  The little red pickup saved our legs. The deer that nonchalantly strolled across our line of fire were safe, but provided an additional ranging exercise.
I can't wait to return to this wonderful range.
