What an absolutely great weekend for an Appleseed at Henry County Sportsman Association!
We started the weekend with 3 shooters. We started with the normal introductions and safety briefing then brought rifles to the line and started with the morning Redcoat. We worked through the different points of instruction and prone position throughout the morning and before we knew it, it was time for lunch. Third Degree presented a great First Strike then it was back to instruction. We started the afternoon with standing and seated positions and Blindman presented the 2nd strike. We worked through a practice AQT and shot the Redcoat. Cadence presented the 3rd strike and the benediction was delivered. It was a hot day out, we went through about 10 gallons of water throughout the day since it was so hot.
Sunday started off with a predication of thunderstorms for the afternoon. There were 4 shooters starting Sunday. We started with the morning review of the safety briefing and stayed under the shelter for review of the positions and SHF while we had a passing shower. Then it was time for the grind starting with the morning Redcoat. After the redcoat we worked on carding the sights and NPOA shifting then it was time for the AQT grind. On our first AQT, we had not 1 but 2 new riflemen! For both shooters if was their 2nd event. Rick earned a 214, even with issues with his sight picture in seated. Jeremy earned himself a baptism with waters from the North Bridge for a score of 210. We ended the day with the redcoat and no thunderstorms!
By the end of the day Sunday we had 3 promotions to process! We had a new Blue Hat, a new Orange Hat and a new Green Hat! Rick agreed to take a Blue hat and become part of the Applecore! And Jeremy agreed to take an orange hat! I earned my Green Shoot Boss hat!
