Title: Racine, WI 4 Dec 2016, AAR >> Winterseed
Post by: BrightSparc on December 13, 2016, 11:42:42 PM
Crazy snow!!!  We definitely had a Winterseed on our hands.

17 on the line for a special Winterseed event.  The weather cooperated next to Lake Michigan with freezing temperatures and several inches of snow.  At 7 am, it was just cold - and then the snow came.

This year Southeast Wisconsin nicknamed the December event "Frozen Chosin" honoring the 8,000 Americans who fought in the Taeback mountains of North Korea 65 years ago.  It was the coldest Winter in 100 years with temperatures hitting 30 to 50 below zero.

Hats off to the orange hats who kept instruction brief, but with purpose.  One day event and 3 full AQTs were managed.  Three new riflemen with Winterseed patches at the end of a very short and intense day.

Next Winterseed event in Racine is February 2017!

Kudos to all the instructors and shooters who braved the weather. I know that I was soaked through and quite cold by the end of the day. At least it wasn't very windy  ;)
