I have a nice .22LR Volquartsen barrel on a 10/22 build.
Qualified Rifleman with it, but the scope positioning was not ideal. Lots of "grey" in seated and prone.
The scope/mount is on the receiver. It is a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire scope.
Volquartsen sells a barrel mounted scope base. That would definitely solve my "grey" issue.
Anyone here using the Volquartsen barrel mounted base? Any issues?
Are there any other Barrel mounted bases for a 10/22?
Any other ideas for a better mount? One that will give me adequate eye relief in seated and prone?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
On our 10/22 and Ruger American Rimfire rifles, we are using extended rails. On my 10/22 the rail extends to just rearward of the rear sight. (From Memory). The turret of my Leupold VX1 2-7 x 33 scope sits just forward of the charging handle. This scope position works well for us. Good full field of views in scope.
The Ruger 10/22 is a stock base model with tapered barrel. I installed it in a Magpull Hunter X-22 Stock so I could correct the LOP and comb height. I installed a Ruger BX Trigger with drop in auto bolt release. I spent some time smoothing out the interior of the receiver. Then the scope installation as described above. We have shot into the 230's with that rifle and Mini Mag 36 grain HPs.
The Ruger American Rimfire .22 is stock. We changed the stock modules to a short LOP and high cheek piece. We then used an extended rail to move the Vortex Diamondback Rimfire 2-7 scope forward enough for correct view. She has qualified with that rifle at 211. That rifle shoots very well with The SK Plus (non magazine) ammunition.
There are several makers of the extended rails.
Chris,
I have used a EGW Ruger 10-22 Picatinny Rail Scope Mount, 20 MOA rail that attaches to the receiver in the standard mounting holes and cantilevers over the barrel. Will try to post a picture later.
Also used another cantilever base (Volquartsen?) on another rifle but the EGW was the same thing only less expensive.
