Last Appleseed shoot of the year for the Boulder Rifle Club, and 14 shooters braved the weather and other uncertainties to throw their hats in the ring for Liberty and Rifle Marksmanship. And on Sunday, all 14 returned for more. What does that say?
These shooters were astonishingly happy - and stayed that way. They had lots of surprises for the capable BRC instructor staff, teasing us with ideas about who would score Rifleman before Sunday evening. I think we all guessed wrong, turned out we had two new Riflemen who appeared, and at least 6 more who were SO close to the mark. That's just the kind of thing that can happen when only 4 shooters had been to Appleseed before. Therefore congratulations to Cyrelle, who shoots like a WWI Marine now. And congratulations to Sofia, who knows what she is about now, too. The Redcoat scores tell the rest of the story, Sunday evening 4 shooters hit the Morgan's Shingle target, and 2 cleared the entire Redcoat. Extraordinary! And when they left the range, they all vowed to come back.
Hats off to Luminous Rabbit (nerdname Wayne) and Ridge Walker (nerdname Will), set now for promotion after great service and histories performances. And crack instruction by Jr.Rifleman (nerdname Dain), Offy (nerdname Chris), and the intrepid Mellow Yellow (nerdname Mike). They were all down there in the line with the shooters, coaching, coaching. It was a great shoot, no other way to describe it.
Sounds like a fine weekend, congrats to Cyrelle and Sofia. Look forward to seeing AdobeWalls in Pensacola next month, we have missed you.
And what kind of Shoot Boss would I be if I failed to thank our generous hosts, the Boulder Rifle Club, for their unending support and promotion of Appleseed!
Photos attached here from Sunday, just before the Mountain Standard light left us shivering in the dark . . .
Good shoot and good working with Richard again. Thanks for going the extra mile ('s) to come out to help run the shoot.
Thanks to all the instructors: Will, Wayne, Dain, & Chris for coming out and running a good productive and safe shoot!
2 new Riflemen, and 4 or 5 just a couple of click away from that coveted patch!
This was the last shoot for the year in Colorado. Look on the schedule, a bit of paperwork left to finish up, but we have the 2017 schedule posted already. A return to the BRC starting next April and expanding the program to a new facility near Nunn CO, Great Guns range!
I've also added more pictures
Thanks,
Mike
