Title: AAR Leyden, MA 10/15-16 AR-Seed

That was quite a weekend.

We managed to cover everything we set out to, and come out ahead, primarily thanks to our shooters who were focused, prepared, and on task which meant we didn't have to waste a lot of time repeating simple instructions.
That meant we could focus more on more exciting topics, like how barrel length relates to gas system length, and what that means for reliability and felt recoil, or how to figure out what size bullets won't keyhole in your rifle.
While every shooter always knows, or should know, that their rifle could wind up being disassembled and studied on the line, usually it's something that they work to avoid, rather than volunteering for!

While we covered a fair pile of technical topics, most of the weekend was spent in practical exercises.  Shooters got enough data points to start really understanding of their trajectory, at least out to BSZ distances, some eyes on experience with target detection and ranging, and started developing their understanding of field expedient support, shooting conventional KDAQTs, improvised popup targets, Daniel Morgan steel, and simulated targets at extreme distances.

While the weather failed to offer us any challenges, insisting instead on being as perfect as a fall weekend can get in New England, and the camping was excellent.  Thank you to the instructors who helped make this possible, and the shooters, who give us a reason to go camp on a rifle range and spend two days shooting and talking about shooting.
