Greetings!
We have a Ruger American Rimfire .22LR with a Vortex Diamondback 2-7 x 35 scope. The scope is mounted directly to the grooved receiver with rings. The scope is pushed as far forward as possible. That scope has a one inch tube. That scope position works really well for Standing and prone and is suitable for sitting. And the rifle allowed the owner to shoot Rifleman on her first Appleseed.
We changed the stock module to a compact with high rise from a standard with high rise. The length of pull was changed about 1.25 inches. Now the scope position does not work for sitting.
What are some very good ways to move the scope forward without raising the scope a lot? Would using the tapped receiver and putting a rail on the top work that would let us move the scope forward? Cantilever mount? Help Please!

Something like this might work for you: http://www.egwguns.com/index.php?p=product&id=668 (http://www.egwguns.com/index.php?p=product&id=668) You would need to buy some Weaver/Picatinny scope rings (probably medium height but that would depend on the scope size) but this would give you much flexibility in mounting a scope.
This mount is the only one that I have found that allows the scope to be pushed forward to obtain the correct eye relief on larger scopes. It extends over the barrel and mounts to the receiver directly. Comes with the correct length screws. Torque screws to 20 INCH pounds.

EGW is a small family owned business, who has sold me fine parts that work, 20 buck less than brownells who sells fine parts that work.
I have the EGW mount on my RAR and it is excellent! If it is not showing in stock contact them and they may be able to get it to you. Everything from them including packaging is U.S. made.
I also run their 10/22 mount.
A BIG CONGRATS to April for scoring Rifleman!

I just realized that I never updated this thread with the resolution that worked. Our gunsmith found an extended rail similar to the ones that were mentioned here. Sorry, not sure of brand. That and appropriate rings allowed for proper scope position. Thanks for the help!
An extended rail for my 10/22 also solved the same problem for me.
