I want to acknowledge Tech Sights for some excellent customer support. I was loaning out my 10/22 for this past Appleseed shoot in Harvard. I purchased the sights a couple years back and put them on my 10/22, then safed it, and maybe shot it twice.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I was getting ready for the upcoming Appleseed. I was loaning out a couple rifles, so I wanted to make sure they were squared away, along with my own gear.
I noticed the front sight was jiggling a bit. I did some internet searching and sent TS an email. It was promptly returned with an exhaustive list of possible problems, and solutions with pictures. I went through everything, and in the process of trying to fix it, I cross threaded the set screw. I sent back an email at 10 pm on the Monday before the shoot, saying that it was likely my fault, and was asking if they thought they could get a me a replacement sight (that I would purchase) before Friday.
This was their response:

Mr. Brownstone
We will send you a new front sight body with new side button head screws and washers along with a new set screw. You can use your existing front sight post, detent, and spring for the new sight.
I'm not sure if it was a manufacturer defect or an installation problem, but since you are using it for an Appleseed loaner we will just give you the parts. The world needs more Appleseeders.
Email me back with your mailing address before 11:00 am Tuesday and we will mail it out priority. You should get it in 2-3 days if the post office does their part.
Thanks,
Long story short, sight came in, installed in 2 minutes and is rock solid. Thanks again Erik at TS!
O0 I had a very similar experience. Didn't even charge me for shipping. Great people.
Same here, I Cross threaded the front sight screw.
They just sent me a new one no questions asked.
Great people.
I can't agree more. The company is first class.

I've been thinking of taking my scope off my10-22,which Teck Sight model do I want and why.Thank you

I like the Model TSR100 because adjusting for elevation at both front and back (which the Model TSR200) can do is often a bit much for students. Keep It Simple Smarty
Have a "loaner" 10/22 that was seeing action before I was on the Appleseed trail. It had the original aluminum front tower. Years of wear and abuse wore out the dovetail. I replaced it with the newer steel tower and thinking I could just use the existing screws did not order replacements. Upon arrival, I realized I needed the screws as the mounts are different. I called Tech-Sights on Wednesday and had the screws, washers and Allen Wrenches by Friday. Very friendly and very fast! Great Folks to work with.
A little off topic but not really. How many instructors keep a set of TS100 in their range bag. How often would a student benefit from getting a set while at the event? If you become a dealer (only 5 sets purchased required to do) Get a discount and sell to students at MSRP it will cover your shipping and they can enjoy learning correctly immediately.

I've never kept sights in a range bag, I bring a loaner rifle if the attendee's rifle is boogered up somehow. I've seen scope reticles fall off inside the scope, pieces of rifles fall off/go missing, etc. There are some instructors that I've worked with that bring along extra GI slings and swivels for sale to students who are interested, I just bring my (in)famous bubblegum pink GI sling to the line as loaners, knowing that 99.9% of the time it is returned back to me at the end of the day before I have to ask for it back. Personally I try not to sell accessories to attendees just because I don't want to deal with the hassle of making sure I have correct change and stuff like that.

I keep a stash of slings, 1-1/4" swivels, and ammo available for sale, but I hadn't considered Tech-sights. Hrm... I wouldn't mind keeping extra stuff on hand, but I have a feeling that they would just sit there for a long time. The other issues would be finding enough time to do the swap, and making sure to bring a vice & drifts to punch out the old front sight.
I don't know. It's an interesting idea. I'm curious, how many times have you come across an opportunity to install Tech-sights at an event? I guess it would depend on how large the shoots are that you typically instruct at.
GTE and NS good questions. I actually used to have 2-3 sets in the range box. Total switch time is about 10 min (if you have all he tools ready. There is no need for a vice or punches, just a screw driver. In my opinion 55 FRN is cheaper than 200+ for setting up a LTR to loan out. As for change... being a convenience, rounding to the next whole dollar amount (or 5) is worth it. Also after a student sees the improvement of sights on a loaner they would most likely be glad to pay what they would pay to have them shipped after the event ends.
As for # times... If you ask M1bzrk he would probably say 2-3 per shoot (then replaced, only takes days to arrive)for an entire season. (7 or 8 shoots). I even install studs and QR swivels during lunch.
Also if you modify the students rifle, if there are problems in function, no cost to you!
