Title: Orlando, FL March 19-20, 2016
Post by: 9mm4545 on March 21, 2016, 11:09:27 PM
On a rainy Saturday morning a small group of patriots gathered at the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club to learn the fine art of rifle marksmanship and to learn some of their extraordinary American heritage. The initial Redcoat showed that much improvement was possible so we began building solid positions and using a sling for shooting support. Groups got smaller. We added the Six Steps and NPOA and the groups shrunk even further. By lunch we had some great groups and all the rifles were sighted in. At lunch 9mm4545 and xsquidgator told how an attempt at confiscating arms and ammo went badly astray for the King's army in Lexington and Concord. Then it was on to new positions, transitions, tighter time limits and more and more fine tuning. By the mid afternoon, during a well deserved break, Cable__Guy took the story home as the retreat from Concord was brought to life. By the end of the day we had two AQT's under our belt and one re-qualified Rifleman. Good job Andrew!

On Sunday it was still raining and everyone was moving a bit slower but apparently not all of the lessons of the day before were forgotten. After the usual introductions, we heard 9mm4545 give a short talk on Freedom and Liberty. With many Appleseed repeat customers, the marksmanship review went quickly and we were able to get in some extensive coachingâ€"and marked improvement. Folks who were barely on paper on Saturday morning were shooting very respectable groups and these were folks who looked like they knew well what they were about. At lunch we heard about some Dangerous Old Men and then it was time to shoot some AQT's. During the afternoon the sun finally came out and it turned out to be a glorious day. Kevin showed that he had the right stuff and knocked out a number of Rifleman scores during the afternoon. Congratulations! When we finally quit for the day we had several folks who were very very close to the magic 210. When four great stages are on the same target and on the same day, there will be some patches earned and there is no doubt that these are forthcoming. Ted, you are knocking at the door! And thank you for stepping up to become an Applecorps volunteer. Let me know your screen name when you have it and I can get your promotion in the works. You are so close that there is a certainty that you will soon have Rifleman after your name. Xin, your improvement was nothing short of amazing. Keep it up and you will quickly have a Rifleman patch to add to your wardrobe. Jason, you were getting really really close. A few more good shots and that patch is yours. Dry practice with concentration on getting it exactly right will yield faster transitions, fast acquisition of NPOA, and the confidence that you can nail any target you can see. I do look forward to seeing you at another shoot. Logan and Jeff, it was good to see both of you again. You continue to shoot better and better every time. Only a matter of time until you will join the ranks of those called "Rifleman". And John, you are an inspiration. By Sunday afternoon it was obvious that you were putting our instruction to good use as every AQT showed improvement. To everyone, thanks for coming out and giving us instructors the opportunity to pass on the tradition. And kudos to our great instructors: Tom, Chris, Todd, and Peter, who made it all possible. Good job guys! If anyone took pictures, let's see them!
