Great Lakes instructors, please see the following post on the Michigan Instructors board for a training opportunity. You would be most welcome.
Although Michigan is working on arranging this, the location is in the confusingly named Michigan City, Indiana, so I suppose we're actually the border raiders. In general terms, Michigan City, IN is near the western border of Indiana, at the southern tip of Lake Michigan.

Please post up on the original thread or PM me if interested, to help me keep replies straight. Thank you! John / Oz
Thanks Oz. This is a great opportunity and thank you for sharing!

The date has firmed up as August 26-27, 2016. See the original thread--details on registration will come in late June.

I would be interested in this course. I am in Southern Illinois and I believe I am on vacation that week.

Great! Keep an eye on the thread for more info. I'll also PM folks who have expressed interest, once the registration details firm up (again, expected in late June), and we'll take as many people as the training counselor is willing to pack in.
Bump!
On Tuesday and Wednesday I'll be seeing the instructor for this event, as we work a private event at La Porte, IN. (About 50 youth shooters and 4-5 Appleseed instructors, if anyone unexpectedly has some mid-week time on their hands!)
Hopefully Aug 26-7 is still good for folks who expressed interest. If it's not, please let me know so I can update him on numbers. If you hadn't expressed interest but are interested--let me know that too!

The event is on. Friday-Saturday, August 26-7.
This will include NRA BIT and Rifle Instructor.
--Friday evening will start at 6PM Central (local) time; 7PM Eastern. This will be an Appleseed participant only portion.
--Saturday will start bright and early and will finish at 5pm Central (6pm Eastern). We will be joined by local club members who are seeking this credential to work with club programs.
The instructor will e-mail me an information sheet in about 1 week that I will e-mail to folks who have expressed interest. Please PM me your e-mail address if you aren't sure if I already have it. You'll then complete the sheet and snail mail it directly to the instructor with payment of $100.
(All proceeds after direct expenses benefit the Michigan City Rifle Club youth shooting camp in June of each year. Half of the instructors who have expressed interest have worked this event in 2015 or 2016 and know it is a great program.)
If any of the 12 folks who expressed interest are not able to attend, please let me know so I have a headcount.
If any new folks are interested please let me know that too and I will see if we can work more in.
If you don't remember whether you expressed interest--let me know that too!
Any questions? Yup, let me know! Oz
In response to an instructor inquiry...
Friday evening is Basic Instructor Training only. If you have taken NRA BIT less than 2 years before this course, you don't need to attend Friday.
The instructor said he will take folks' word for it, you don't need to bring him documentation, but if you've taken BIT you should be certain it is within 2 years (to the day) because the NRA computer will catch it when trying to activate the new credential. If you haven't taken BIT or it has been too long--see you Friday!
The registration form has been e-mailed to the folks who have expressed interest and PM'd me their e-mail. (If you expressed interest but haven't PM'd me your e-mail...please do!)
Last call
for anyone who is interested. If your schedule just freed up, there is space. PM me your e-mail and I will e-mail you the registration form, you can bring the form and your $100 straight to the site on Friday evening (if you need BIT) or Saturday morning (if you have BIT in the last 2 years).
We had 14 folks interested overall. Right now we have 6 who will be there, 7 for whom life (including "events needing instructors") got in the way, and 1 that I'm not sure about.
The instructor indicates some of his home range folks who already have BIT and therefore were not going to be there Friday but would join in on Saturday have also fallen off. He's indicated he would be happy to set up another date for folks who were not able to make it this time.
Thanks! Oz
