What happens when you schedule a KD on New Year's day thinking you'll give a few local instructors a chance to qualify or re-qualify KD? You fill the line and get a waiting list after the first week.
Rusty and I came up with this shoot after the last KD event in Calera, AL as a way to kick off the New Year in the Tennessee Valley. I welcomed anyone who had previously attended an Appleseed event who did not plan to spend the day recovering from the night before by watching football on TV or trolling the shopping malls looking for after Christmas deals. We had a great group of the Appleseed faithful come out on a cold, for Tennessee, soggy day and show that they were men who knew very well what they were about.
Since this was a one day event we focused exclusively on the skills needed to qualify KD and we did not cover target detection or range estimation as we usually do in a 2 day KD. Rusty did a great job on the classroom block of instruction focusing on trajectory and shooting BSZ. We encouraged shooters to establish a 300 yard far zero and not fiddle with the sights until we went to 400 yards. The group obviously "got it" because by the end of the day over half of the shooters shot qualifying KD scores including one perfect 50/50 with a scoped rifle and another 47/50 with iron sights. These guys can shoot! O0
Thanks to all the instructors who signed up to work the event and give up a day off to promote liberty. Y'all are the best.

The next KD event in the Tennessee Valley is the event at the CMP Marksmanship Center in Talladega on January 30-31 using electronic targets. It's already sold out with a waiting list. No walking. No mud. Covered line. It will be epic. See you on the line.

Wreck, thanks for putting this one together. I was surprised & delighted we filled up like we did!
