We just wrapped up another great Appleseed weekend at the Marana Shooting Club.  A last minute staffing change almost resulted in me having to teach this one solo, until one of our registered shooters - an established Rifleman who has been bringing his boys out to shoot at Appleseed for the last couple of years - accepted an Orange Hat to help me out.  (Thanks Coyotl!)  Leaving 7 eager shooters on the line Saturday morning, one under 18, two with centerfires.

After introductions and a quick safety briefing, we retrieved rifles from the vehicles and got to work - on effective use of the sling, building a solid prone position, the six steps of firing the shot, and effective use of Natural Point of Aim.  As groups got smaller, we talked about conversion of inches > minutes > clicks to get those groups onto target, and partnered up for the Carding the Sights, and Ball & Dummy drills.  A couple of shooters were experiencing some equipment issues - sights and rifle-fit mostly, but managed to improvise, adapt, and overcome.

Lunchtime is history time, where was told the events of April 19, 1775, and the difficult choices and sacrifices made by our founding generation, to bestow on subsequent Americans the freedom that we enjoy yet today.

After lunch, we worked on building a solid sitting, kneeling, and standing position, along with transitions, and shot the first AQT of the weekend - reaffirming one Rifleman.

Sunday saw 5 shooters return, and after a quick review and a few sighter squares, we dug into more AQTs - although a few came close (one 208 - the last couple of points just could not be found), there were no other Rifleman scores for the weekend.

Marana shooters, this is your place for questions, comments, discussion, pictures, etc.
