Title: Racine, WI Sept 12-13 - 2015
Post by: Laredo on September 14, 2015, 05:07:16 PM
This was another amazing weekend in Racine.  The weather was perfect.  The wind was light.  The sun was bright.  Not a cloud in the sky.  27 on the line.

7 rifleman were born this weekend in Racine.  That's right, 7!  Further, there were 20 other students whom the spirit of the American Rifleman was awakened!

For those that didn't hit 210 yet.  The journey has just begun.  Our founder says; "A Rifleman persists."  Stick with it.  It took me 4 Appleseed's before I scored beyond 210.   All 27 of you made it through a rigorous weekend.  We pushed you outside of your comfort zone - mentally and physically.  This is no small feat.  You should all be proud of yourselves.

The history was told well by our orange hats.  The instruction was second to none.  The spirit of the weekend was energizing.

I think we all realized how special our American way of life is.  To maintain it we have to get active and involved.  Just as we persisted this weekend, we must push back the cobwebs of comfort and get out there and involved in some way.  Our American system was designed around citizen involvement.  If we don't get involved......  It doesn't work!  I think if we all look around at the current state of affairs and ask ourselves if it's working...   What would our answer be?  We the people are the only ones that can make a difference.  There is no 'they'...  We are the 'they'...  We have a voice.  The choice is ours...

I want to send a special shout-out to our two Young Marines, Ben and Matt.  They both scored rifleman and took a hat.  These are two special young men.  Your parents should be proud.

Our new rifleman:
Luke - 212, Thomas - 212, Mike - 211, Ben - 215, Matt - 217, Collin - 212, Joe - 220.  Congrats!!!

All of our new rifleman stepped up and took a hat.  Add to that list, Curtis, and we have 8 new orange hats!  8 people stepped up to help the cause!  Thank you so much.  We need all the help we can get!

A special thank you to all the Hats that made this weekend so great.  You guys and gals are to Appleseed as NPOA is to shooting:  The special sauce!  :)

What an absolutely amazing shoot.  It was energizing to see so many patriots listening to stories of our heritage and learning the lessons of marksmanship that built our beautiful country.  This was truly a very eventful weekend as seven eager riflemen earned their patches and took an orange hat.

Most inspiring was adding two very young orange hats, Young Marines Ben and Matt, both of whom showed amazing discipline and perseverence!  They earned Rflemen patches with scores of 215 and 217 respectively.

I had so much fun at this shoot, I should be paying Appleseed.

This was a great weekend with an outstanding group of shooters and an outstanding crew of Instructors. All of our new Rifleman were so invested in the history, heritage, and marksmanship they each stepped up to help us spread the word and took orange hats. In addition Curtis also stepped up to orange hat. With this group of 8 (Ben (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=28708), Collin (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=28960), Curtis (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=26412), Joe, Luke (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=29479), Mike (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=29352), Matt (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=29348), and Thomas (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=12288)), our team has grown exponentially stronger. Couldn't be happier to have you all aboard.

All of the credit for the success of the event goes to those who came, and Laredo (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=21207) and his crack group of instructors (Janir (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=10872), Endpoint (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=4356), BrightSparc (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=17502), Sis (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=26140), Scattershot_Sarah (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=26409), Flying Ferret (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=23283), Zimms (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=26657), and Xsubi (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?action=profile;u=26410)). I was humbled just to be amongst you.

To those who have not yet scored Rifleman, don't give up. Don't let the AQT beat you. You can do this and we're going to be there to help you!

I look forward to seeing you all in October.
