Title: thoughts on the AP74
Post by: Longbow14 on August 04, 2015, 09:44:54 AM
 Howdy 'seeders,
I stumbled across a fair deal on a Jager AP-74 22. I'm probably going to by it for amusement sake but i've read these guns were very accurate despite the need for a fair amount of cleaning. I know magazines aren't cheap for it but for the cost it's still cheaper than setting up a 10/22. Does anyone have experience with these plinkers?

for reference

I love the one I have - it's the most accurate reproduction of an M16 in .22 rimfire I've seen.

I haven't fired it in years (note to self: remedy that!), but experienced repeated firing pin breakage via a weakness in the design/manufacture of same.

Fortunately, the firing pin is a simple piece which should easily be duplicable with the right size nail, a file and a drill...

These rifles are absolutely tack drivers and prior to 1980 the ones chambered in 556 are even more accurate!
