Title: Casper, WY May 30/31 AAR
Post by: colonial shooter on June 01, 2015, 07:46:34 PM
Wow, what a beautiful weekend for a shoot in Casper. Sunny and very little wind. Even though this was a rescheduled event from Apr 18th-19th. As there were 14 pre registrations, the instructor corp was ready, with 4 IITs and 3 Red hats (1 acting as SB).  We had 5 shooters show up ready for a dip in the pool.

After Introductions, safety rules, safe rifleinstruction and the pledge of allegiance, Red coats started the day. Followed by six steps, steady hold factors and line commands, the squares took a beating til lunch. Upon returning from lunch, students were given the history lesson (1st strike). After this we worked our way through transitions and intro to the AQT. Even though the groups looked good on the squares, the AQT must have been a little intimidating. Scores began low, but as the things came together those scores improved. A short break for another dip into history (2nd strike) gave a needed break from the heat (water and potty break) then back into the grind. Scores from 125- 170 ended the day on Saturday.

Sunday was even better weather wise. With no new walk-ons, a reminder of the safety rules, a red coat target and the AQTs began the day. Showing what they were taught the day before, and almost 1 on 1 coaching, the previous scores continued to rise. By the end of the day, the scores had improved, just not enough to earn the coveted "patch". However most were over 200, with the rest in the mid 170s.
The students all said they had learned a lot, were reminded to practice, and were told if they did their scores would be better at the next event.
