OK guys and gals, I've got a lot of parts and have NO idea how to get the factory front sight out of the dovetail and install my new tech sight there. Any advice would be helpful and very much appreciated.
If you have a stable way to hold the barrel (vise with protective cover around the barrel), it will help a lot. Then use a punch and a hammer, not rubber mallet. If it doesn't come out easily, be prepared to start really whacking that thing. :)
Or, if you have a gunshop nearby, I'm sure they'll knock it out for almost nothing (or nothing if you're known there.) When I bought my second LTR, they took it in the back and punched out the front sight in about 2 seconds.
I supported the barrel on a couple of 2x4s, one at the barrel end, the other near the receiver.
Then I used a wood dowel (no brass punch available) and WACKED the dowel with a hammer to drift the sight out. It is just pressed in there, nothing hold it but friction, so all it takes is some WACKING.
When you install your Tech Sights, use plenty of Lock-tite, on every screw.
The proper tool to use is a front sight adjusting tool. The mentioned methods work.

$53 to $60. I have one of the Williams tools. Fine if you're in the business, but hardly worth the cost otherwise. Support the base, drive it out.
When all else fails, get a bigger hammer. ;D
Dremel worked for me. Just cut down the center of the sight. Can't put it back in after that tho ;D
Could someone move this to the LTR site? It is so hard to keep track of things, maybe its just me.
