Title: Vietnam era Ft Benning marksmanship video
Post by: 509gman on February 06, 2015, 05:56:43 AM
Oooohh this is cringeworthy! I can tell you the army hasn't got much better at making informational videos in 50+ years (I'm looking at you, AFN!). 10:35 is my favorite point. I'm posting this more for giggles, also to point out that what I got for BRM there in 2004 wasn't much different. The trees were taller. Notice what's missing? Well, they do say to relax, but I think NPOA is a little bit more of a concept to grasp than that, visualization with the laser boresight really helps. Half warmed IMC as well, works fine as long as you can get those targets.

LOL at all the troopers dozing off in the stands.....

Wait, you mean to tell me that the Army actually made this ridiculous movie for release to training commands?

The "firer"???????

It almost looks like a damn Looney Tunes cartoon.  What a sad joke.

I wouldn't doubt it.

Hmm, stress of correct sight alignment, sight picture, steady hold factors (I've heard that somewhere).

You guys should remember that we had a draftee army when this movie was produced and the M16 manual as well as the soldiers handbook were in comic form.

Meanwhile, the Marine Corps was putting out training like this...

Any marines care to say if the training in boot camp is still like this? I keep hearing different things.

This is what current day USMC Basic Rifle Marksmanship training looks like.  It's pretty clear cut evidence of what they do, regardless of what you might have heard.
