Title: Mini200 tech-sights and the Ruger 50th 10-22
Post by: freedomzxcv on December 13, 2014, 10:23:58 AM
I've had the design contest rifle for a while and its been very reliable. I installed mini200 tech-sights and will sight it in today at 25 meters. Has anyone established come-ups for 50 and 100 yards? I'm planning on participating in a rimfire match next weekend and won't have an opportunity to check it until the match.

The answer depends on what ammo you are shooting. As a broad rule of thumb, 25 and 50 are almost the same, and there is about 6" of drop at 100. Here is a ballistic calculator that will help:

Remember, measure with a micrometer, mark with chalk, cut with an axe.

Your experiences may vary, but my set of tech sights' elevation would not go low enough to sight in. There is no specific sights made for the 50th 10-22, but the set made for the mini14 will work. I ended up cutting a strip of coke can about 1/8" thick, folding it into three layers, and shimming in front of the mount screw to lower the back of the sight enough to get it on. I'll welcome a better solution if anyone has one, just working with what I had available.
