The temperatures this weekend were a bit below seasonal averages, and the overcast skies combined with the moisture in the air on Saturday to turn the day into a bone chilling marathon.  Sunday brought us clear and sunny skies that did much to buoy our spirits.  In spite of these less than ideal weather conditions, eight fine Americans answered the call.  They were joined on the line by several RWVA volunteers who needed some much deserved recoil therapy.

Everybody was safe and had a good time learning to shoot their rifles more accurately.  The history was also engaging and well received by all.

While everybody showed improvement, the final tally has two new Riflemen and two requalifying Riflemen.  Congratulations to Kris and bc medicine man on earning their Rifleman status, and to brianheeter and Uncle Davey on requalifying as Riflemen.

We had several people knocking on the door with Jeremiah leading the way by dang near knocking the door off the hinges with scores of 206 and a 209.

All-in-all this was a wonderful way to spend a chilly December weekend in Indiana.

Now, on to the photos.

We got off to a cold and soggy start but it was definitely a worthwhile event.  My floppy, tan hat is off to all of the participants who made the choice to show up and work on marksmanship and learn about their heritage as Americans!  You could have looked at the weather forecast and said, "Eh, maybe some other time."  Instead you got up at an early hour, dressed appropriately and did something that can't be done in many places around the world.  We celebrated our freedom and honored those that fought and died for it.   HUZZAH!!!!!

It was a fun weekend.  While it started out a bit damp (and chilly), the Sun did make an appearance on Sunday.  I think everyone had fun, I know I certainly did!  I am working on putting together a more efficient hot water dispensing system for the next Appleseed.  Hot beverages certainly go a long way to improving one's disposition.  :-)

Fun on the firing line

And TJ gets his Green Hat!

Congratulations to Frank, who made Rifleman!

Kris looks pleased with his Rifleman score.

It would not be a proper ending to an Appleseed without firing an M1 Garand.

Thanks TJ! Rich is looking at a larger one (3-5 gallons) that is insulated plastic and will go hot and cold. However, The one below is much closer to santa's helper's price range and is not plastic :-)
