For anyone coming in from out of town, I have some property about 20 minutes south of Battleground.  There is a small farmhouse that no one is currently living in.  Nothing fancy, but it is warm, dry and comfortable and available for anyone that wants to stay there.  There are three beds and a futon.

We're in, assuming the weather cooperates.  If 84 gets shut down over the Blues, then all bets are off.

According to the RWVA Instructor Manual, "...an IBC consists of 2 parts: 1) a weekend of training which is appropriate for all levels of instructors, and 2) an accompanying Appleseed event which should ideally occur within a week or 2 of the training event, and this Appleseed event may be chosen at random by any of the participants."

Ahem. It just so happens there is an Appleseed event at Stevenson on March 7,8. So far, only one shooter has registered. I would hate to waste this opportunity. You may recall there is a "Rifleman's Challenge" out there for instructors to put up their best scores on an AQT in order to get a beverage of their choice courtesy of Prescott. There is also a challenge for those using a 30 caliber rifle, including--cough cough--AK-47 variant rifles. Here's the invitation to Pacific NW instructors: Sign up for this event as a shooter. Experience the event from the perspective of a shooter. Use it to brush up your marksmanship skills and attain your best AQT score (by the way, Griff, I prefer 18-year-old Scotch). If enough instructors sign up, I plan on pairing you up together to work as a coach/shooter throughout the event. When you aren't shooting you will be coaching your partner in order to help him/her correct minor flaws. What better way to identify and break bad habits you may have picked up? What better opportunity to get shooter feedback on your instructor/coaching skills? A win/win/win(maybe), right? You get to shoot a lot, you get to put into practice some of the excellent instructor techniques learned during the IBC and you may, possibly, get a free drink out of the deal!

The Blue Lake range has a cover over the 100 yard firing line so even if the weather is wet there is shelter. Please sign up as early as possible so I don't have to cancel this event and reschedule the shooter(s).
