Title: AAR Charlotte,NC November 1-2, 2014
Post by: Dakota on November 03, 2014, 09:55:20 PM
Another one in the books at the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club.
Thanks again to them for letting us hold our events there, and a special thanks for the heated clubhouse, it sure came in handy on Saturday.
We started out with 8 shooters on Saturday and almost all of them made it through a windy, rainy, cold and generally miserable day. A rifleman persists and they earned our respect.
Our newest IIT's StormShadow and WinterOps kicked it into high gear and called the line like old pros,
Fred got a chance to work with our instructors and students and saw that the spirit is alive and well here in the Charlotte area too!
NeilR, PainKiller, KARDIAK KID, ThePoet, Pawzzz and Pelon performed like professionals as always!

Repeat Rifleman (& woman) Pawzzz and Navy Doc Steve, and all of the shooters made great progress.
Jeremy was on a roll with back to back 205's when he had a jam and lost a full stage, I'm sure he'll be back after some dry firing and nail it next time.

We did have a catastrophic failure of a 10/22 barrel on the line, the instructors heard the difference in the shots and ceased the line immediately. Great work and attention on the part of the staff. I'm sure pics will be posted by ThePoet.

Feel free to add your opinions, pictures and stories from the weekend!
See you next time.

This happened with an experienced shooter and repeat rifleman. I was right next to him and I did not hear any unusual report prior to this happening. It did however, sound like a 30-06 when it happened! The chunk of metal flew into the ground and all were safe. His barrel was safely over the line. This was a well run event! We had the pleasure of Fred's company as SB for the weekend and besides the cold rainy weekend, it was a great time!

As the owner/operator of the Ka-Boom, it's just like Pain Killer said: I felt nothing but heard a louder report that I thought was from the bench rest shooter to my left. RSO called immediate Ceasefire. I was having fits w this batch of Federal ammo with jams, stovepipes, and duds. I notified company.
With APPROPRIATE garb and multiple layers, it was a exciting and fun shoot. I will have more fun next time w CCI ammo instead.
