Sunshine Patriots need not apply!

The morning of Oct. 11th 2014 at Harvard, MA was greeted with chilling rain, cloudy skies, mud, and 14 patriotic Americans ready to make hits count!

We had guys and gals of all ages, but the majority were first time Appleseeders. Saturday got off to a slow roll, going of basics like safety, position, 6 steps, and NPOA. Instructors laid it down and students picked it up. Despite being soaked through and chilled to the bone, students listened to the story of the 3 strikes and by the end of the day there was drastic improvement shown on the Red Coat target.

Sunday brought sunny weather on a excellent fall day in New England. All 14 shooters returned, to what must have seemed like a tropical vacation compared to the previous day. We went over the basics and then flogged the shooters hard on AQT's. We were sure to break things up with slower drills like ball & dummy, cadence, and NPOA to improve accuracy. Students also got to hear about the sacrifices of people like Jason Russell and the courage of Samuel Whittemore. After hearing the particulars of Timothy Murphy's famous 330 yard shot, it started to come together for a few of the shooters!

Terry D. was able to chalk up 225 points to earn his Rifleman patch!
Not long after, Steve G. scored a 231 to earn his Rifleman patch!
Later that afternoon, Matt H., not letting a score of 206 keep him down, picked up the phone and got it dialed in, adding around 20 points to his next target and earning his Rifleman patch!

Many other shooters were dancing in the 180-209 point range, and at the least, everyone showed drastic improvement. I hope that you will all come back and shoot with us again! Don't give up, that patch is something you all have potential to earn!

Come back and also bring your friends!
Thank you to all the shooters and Instructors that made this shoot possible!
