Wow, what a weekend!  I was happy to spend it in the company of thirteen fine students (a great number) and our awesome instructors at BORCC.  I need to get a good night's sleep before properly putting pen to paper (you know what I mean), but  :pics: so let's start posting them up!   :)

More soon.

Again, what a weekend!  Saturday was chilly, windy and rainy, but our hardy shooters hung in there and soaked up marksmanship and heritage.  Our host range, BORCC, had made some changes that freed up the range house and we made the most of it, taking advantage of the shelter for history and some points of instruction.  Sunday's weather was much improved--cold at dawn but warming up, becoming sunny and the fall foliage showing BORCC at its best, it is an especially beautiful place in autumn. Our shooters continued to improve, and had a great time at the KD range ringing steel and showing that what works at 25 meters works at 200!  It was such a nice group of folks to spend a weekend with!   ^:)^

We had one repeat Rifleman (he repeated a couple of times, truth be told) and I was thrilled to hand out four Young Patriot patches to Jared, Connor, Carol Ann, and Travis!

--Cody, Jared, and Connor: I was impressed seeing how close you are as a family and your good nature all weekend.  You should be proud, and I hope to see you back.  Connor--you had an unstoppable attitude and your shooting really improved.  And Cody--thank you for your service, truly.
--Tom, as always you are a one-man Appleseed traveling show.  You shelter us, you feed us, you entertain us, and shoot Rifleman while taking care of the shooters around you.  "Mr. Humble", indeed.
--Carol Ann, you did great!  You made my weekend, telling me you want to come back next year, and the year after that!  How many times did you hit the bucket shot--was that twice?
--Travis, well done at your second Appleseed!  You got better on every AQT and you had a great attitude!  You'll be back too, right?
--Nolan, you can tell you've done this once or twice.  Or more.  That was some nice shooting!
--Mike, it was great seeing you back on the line.  Want to come see us in February for a Winterseed?
--John, you know what you're about.  I hope you put that certificate to good use--I'd love to see you back at another shoot with a CMP Garand!
--Brittany, Tina and Joe:  I'm sorry you couldn't make it back Sunday, but I sure enjoyed having you there Saturday.  Brittany--that was some solid shooting and an unstoppable attitude.  Now look up "last shot hold open" and see if that's what you want.  It might come in a close second to those heat packs!  Tina, you were really coming along on Saturday--try practicing in seated, that was really looking like it could be "your" position.   Joe, you did some nice work--and thank you for not demolishing our target stands!
--Jeff, awesome seeing you again!  I was amazed how much you remembered from your last shoot--you dropped in position and looked great!

--Helen, I know you weren't on the line but you were part of our Appleseed family all weekend while Travis and Carol Ann shot.  You have a great family.  Thank you so much for helping take things down at the end of the event--your family sure knows how to be part of a community.

Many thanks to our fantastic group of instructors.  SteelThunder, waveman, greyfox, Zazzles, Rascal21, Pitmaster, Fruit Loops, Sparky! and Nehemiah (our undercover instructor on the line!), and also to Snipette who was unable to attend but helped with the pre-shoot admin.  You folks are the best.

Now at home...practice!  Teach other folks what you've learned!  Bring 'em to see us, if you can!  And please, post up on the forum--tell us what your experience was!  (It's the only way we'll learn!)   :)

And remember...if you just do one thing for your community each day...what a difference one person can make!

Hoping to see you all again...  Oz

The Appleseed team of instructors were awesome!  'Thanks' goes out to: Fruit Loops, Rascal21, Zazzles, greyfox, Nehemiah, Oz, Pitmaster, Sparky!, SteelThunder, and waveman.

My shooting was poor, but better than in September. Of course, blaming the gun didn't work, since working with an Instructor, one on one, helped tighten up my groups.  My rifle is not the problem, it's me.  I need to get my mind and body in shape to shoot.
My right cheek (on my face) was a little sore from the cheek weld.  Both cheeks (other end) were sore, too,  as well as,  shoulders, upper arms, chest, left elbow, both knees, hamstrings, & abs.  Before this weekend, I should have at least practiced a little before going back to Day 1.  I had a month since the last shoot and squandered it.

I wore the tag 'Mike' on the back of my shirt and was shooting a 10/22 TD with Tech Sights.  I have a dream. Oh, yes, I have a dream:  To shoot Rifleman!  Huzzah!

My Quest for Rifleman
Read through all of the materials and use the drills.
Do dry fire exercises in the Man Room.
Lose a few pounds to make getting up and down off the ground a little easier.
Work on getting in sitting position and finding a comfortable way to do it. (no more excuses)
Work on and memorize the Steps to Fire the Shot.
Practice empty magazine drills for efficiency and to regain NPOA.
Use the Man Room floor as a spot to practice standing to prone and standing to sitting.
Go to the range and concentrate on the 1" square.
Go to the range and shoot all 4 AQT stations, un-timed and timed.
Practice at the range with timed shots.
Order and read Paul Revere's Ride by David Hackett Fischer.
Goal:  Rifleman at the March 1, 2015 Winterseed Event the Watervilet.

Thanks to everyone on the AS staff and to the motivated participants.

For two glorious, fun-filled and safe days, our Appleseed community at the BORCC lived and breathed heritage and marksmanship. We weathered out "forty percent chance" of rain most of the day on Saturday with water-soaked grins and were rewarded on Sunday with ultra-fine weather complete with full fall coloring and the smell of pines.

Cookies just made it all the better!

Thanks to our host club and each every one of our shooters for making those two days be what every day in America can and should be... a celebration of liberty.

And special thanks to all for making this visiting Hoosier feel very much at home. I am looking forward to a return visit.
