Winding down on the events for the year, but it was great to see a FULL line at Miamisburg! A big thank you to the Miamisburg Sportsmen's Association for letting us use the range for the weekend, to all the Instructors who helped out, but especially to everyone that showed up for the event. You are the reason we do this!
We had a couple new shooters on the line, but everyone followed the Four Safety Rules just fine.
After the Redcoats target and explanation, we could gauge our initial effective distance. Improvements all weekend by looking at the Redcoats scores. We went from big groups to small groups.
Building blocks, or "layers of the cake," going over the Steady Hold Factors, Six Steps to Firing a Shot, and NPOA. These are the basics. Get a solid foundation with the SHF and we can move on. Yes, it was a LOT to learn, but I think all of you got the idea of things.
We started out a bit slow on Saturday, and something we call "The Time Monkey" was getting to me. With a larger group like this, I'm sure it's going to happen. I have a set plan of what I want to cover each day, and when I saw we weren't getting to IMC before lunch, that started to bother me. Guess old habits are hard to break!
After lunch and the First Strike, we proceeded with the Course of Fire. Inches, Minutes, and Clicks. Sight adjustments, some verification squares, then we were ready to move on.
IMPROVEMENT throughout the day...smaller groups and better Redcoat scores. Thanks for paying attention!
Sunday started off a bit cooler than Saturday, and left us with a few less shooters. Sorry you missed day two, but in all honesty, Saturday is the important day where we do the majority of the instruction. That's the day you want to be in attendance. Sunday is a bit quicker pace and we also take some time to get a fun drill, or team drill in. Honing the skills we learned on Saturday, and lots of AQTs.
AQTs...we had ONE Rifleman of the group, actually a requalify; Dan. Lots of you were right over the 185-200 hump, and maybe those last two shots you didn't get off in Stage 2 and Stage 3 would have brought you a tad closer!
Remember, complaints come to me, compliments go to the Instructors! Don't forget to keep practicing, and most importantly, TELL SOMEONE about Appleseed. We need your help!
Great job, everyone, and I look forward to seeing you on the line again very soon!
Feel free to post pictures and comments!!!

Great group of shooters! Thanks everyone for coming out.
Saturday AM. I tried to get yet another photo of slim eating a doughnut. Thought I had it, but not this time. ;)
Overheard over the weekend:
"This NPOA stuff really works" (True statement!)
"This isn't the part of shooting I really wanted to be good at" (In reference to multiple opportunities to practice IMC ;D)
It was great to see so many Red Hats on the line, and really great to see a full line of shooters ^:)^
Few more...
And a few more....
A big ol' HUZZAH!
 ^:)^ ^:)^
to dirtdawg and del for those beautiful new Red Hats!
