Seriously, feel free to post! Just because the SB is sick doesn't mean you can't put things on here!
I want to thank everyone for BEING PREPARED for the event! Everyone had their rifles "close enough" to be sighted in, everyone had a USGI sling (or adapted theirs for use) and was somewhat familiar with it's use, and everyone had been PRACTICING! Who can I thank for this? Some 7th Stepping by the Piqua Instructors!!!
I mean it, gang! This was one heck of a weekend! You all did GREAT! Back to me being sick, I appreciate the instructors jumping in and helping where needed. It was greatly appreciated!!! (really wish I felt better so I could have enjoyed it more).
The stories of April 19th, seeing everyone at this event really set the scene, as the shooters all knew each other in one way or another, all friends and family!
There were THREE Rifleman patches earned, but each and every one of you are RIGHT THERE, with average scores right around the 200 mark. Don't get discouraged, and keep practicing. I am hoping to see you all soon at another event. Who knows, Mr. M. might even have Project Appleseed back in Botkins! Thanks for having us!

Coyote217 had this in the Internal AAR, but it's appropriate for here too.
What a great shoot! Joe really showed all how to shoot the M1 Garand, the battle rifle that won WWII. He showed how to smoothly reload the rifle by shooting a 225 for rifleman. His son-in-law Eric tried all weekend to beat him but still shot a 212 with his AR. So along come's Eric's dad Neil who shot a 215 on Sunday. Eric has some Dangerous Old Men in his family. The cousins, age 14, Mason and Evan rang the steel at 100 with Joe's Garand. Amazing young shooters. A couple Marksman and the rest Sharpshooter with no on shooting ungualified. Josh, James and Brandon rounded out the family and friends and all showed great improvement.
What a great bunch of "high minded sons of liberty". Joe commented that the best part of the weekend was the heritage presented.
I would like to thank all the shooters and Instructors for a great weekend. Coyote 217(rick)
Just joined the forum and found this thread on the Botkins, OH shoot. I was there and it was a GREAT time! The heritage was amazing and the story of April 19th really hit home as there were brothers, fathers/sons, cousins, and friends present. Joe has agreed to coach me and hopefully I can continue to improve and apply the techniques shown and earn the Rifleman Badge at a future AppleSeed. Thanks to the staff for putting on a great shoot!
