An honest to goodness "Infernoseed". Never did think too much on all of that in the past, but I was compelled to let the special red Rifleman patches fly last weekend when three Rifleman revealed themselves in a heat index of 127. You read right - the ambient temp was more than 97 degrees Fahrenheit and when combined with our sticky Florida humidity (think tropical lagoon you can walk through), the feels like temp was 127 (actually topped out late in day at 128). This was verified by Rebecca's smart phone in real time.
And yet, there were few complaints to be heard beyond the shoot bosses incessant whimpering. A total of 13 brave Americans battled sun, rain, humidity and oppressive heat to take a chance at the fabled QDAQT. We had three make score - Anthony, Joel and Rebecca as well as several others who were knocking on the door. Father and son teams were prominent at this scorcher of an event - we had Jerry and Shawn, Dave and Joel, Anthony, Alec and Jake, along with the family of Tim, Margo and Kelsey.
Kat did an amazing job on Saturday - hope we didn't wear you out ma'am. Rebecca, the lovely wife of our very own Three O Eight was in attendance on Sunday and managed to earn herself one of those coveted Florida-only red patches - wear it in good health ma'am.
Dave and Joel drove up from the Middle Keys - can you believe that! I know from personal experience that is about 15 hours round trip without any traffic problems. I find it humbling that we still have Americans left that will go that far to honor the traditions of the Founders. Dave knew his history for sure and seems to have passed it on to his son Joel - perhaps that might tend to explain why they have so much grit.
It was an honor to meet and work with each of you and I hope I get to see all ya'll agin soon. Take care and dry fire in the mean time!

Appleseed event reflection,
This was our first Appleseed and I want to express that it was quite a positive experience for my son and I. I was very impressed by the leadership and all the instructors, RSOs and volunteers at the event and I appreciate the time and energy they dedicated to making the event memorable, rewarding and safe.
Our experience was enjoyable ...well maybe if you like the idea of bootcamp in the tropics ; ) - actually it was challenging, mentally and physically. The course content was rich in information in regard to historical events and concepts unique to Americans, and instruction of marksmanship concepts and skills. The articulation and presentation of this content was exceptional.
The event was challenging and humbling for both my son and myself. It brought out character, grit, persistence and self determination while experiencing frustrations due to equipment problems and personal mistakes. I felt a sense of pride through seeing improvements in scores for both of us. In the end, while my son and I did not quite make the scores to receive our Rifleman's Patch, I believe the experience set the stage for a continued desire to meet this challenge in the future. I highly recommend Project Appleseed and what it stands for and I plan to encourage other friends and families to experience the program for themselves. Great work everyone and thanks for the experience. ... Sezaa!
Huzzah!!
Folks great job that is what Appleseed is all about! ..:..
