Hot weather and hot brass! We had lots of both at the Isaac Davis Memorial Range & Gardens. Turnout was strong, with 13 shooters Saturday and 12 returning Sunday. More than half of shooters were young, and the greatest thing about them is that they never think it's impossibly difficult, and no one ever appeared discouraged. From our point of view, the shooters were a joy to work with, got in the groove quickly, and the shoot produced 2 new Riflemen and Redcoats showed skill levels increased quickly. Shooters like that are always welcomed at the Isaac Davis range, and we'll be glad to have them back again soon. Good judgment too -- no one wanted to walk downrange to check their targets in the thunderstorm downpours (plenty of them). A great shoot all around with fine young men.
No sunshine soldiers or summer patriots here. Heat index at 100 Saturday mixed with rain Sunday to make sure the humidity was high enough. A thermal reading of the overhead roof measured 140! Dennis came back to score once again Huzzah. Two new patches awarded Mitch on his second try, boy is his family jealous! Buzz who brought his wife and a group of mentored young conservationists scored on his first Appleseed, Huzzah. 10 year old Robert was a walking history book (home schooling, enough said). The young conservationists were a delight good attitudes and good awareness of safety.
A couple of Orange Hats went up in a puff of smoke and load BANG.
