Title: Byers, CO August 16-17, 2014
Post by: Prone to Knit on August 18, 2014, 08:51:26 PM
We held a fun shoot with 13 students on Saturday and 8 students on Sunday. The weather was warm, with high winds on Saturday and rain threatening Sunday afternoon but it passed us by.

On Sunday, we got to shoot at distances out to 300 yards for a couple hours. We had students of all skill ranges. One of the newer students shot a 201 on the AQT! Several were in rifleman range but it wasn't to be this weekend. Several students did clear the redcoat.

A big thank you goes to students Scott and Leslie for providing some amazingly tasty chili that had cooked all day for the instructor dinner Saturday night.

Thank you to the instructors oneshot_onehole, Brass Bucket, COJeepGirl (and me) for working hard and putting on a fine event.

I love my Appleseed family so much! It was awesome teaching with my mentors Jim and Kim and Alice too!

Cleaned the redcoat, but no joy on the AQT. Kudos to all the instructors for their knowledge, patience, & vigilance.

We had a great time in Byers for the Appleseed.  I have a great deal of respect and admiration for all the instructors at all the Appleseed's I've been to.  Like one shot one hole, prone to knit, new one, long rifle [Alan], brass bucket, Co jeepgirl. And all the other instructors.  I will take what they have taught me and apply it to some home practice and maybe I will quit knocking at the door of my rifleman's patch and I'll kick in the door and grab it.  It was our pleasure to feed the instructors some chili. I don't know if I can do another shoot this year or not but I am not done shooting and training.  Thanks to Appleseed.
Howdy! Leslie (Mrs Shambo) here. I really want to thank ProneToKnit for all her help. It was amazing to have my "bad" habits so quickly identified so I would have time to work on making better habits. IT WORKED!! I improved my AQT score 60 points!!  ^:)^  Almost got that patch on my 2nd Appleseed! Thanks to BrassBucket as well, and everyone, including the other shooters that were also supportive. What a day of learning!! Thank yous ALL!!

Leslie, it was such a pleasure to work with you. A 201!!! You improved by leaps and bounds.

Scott, I know you're right there, also. With both of you topping out at a 201, I think you have a little competition to see who becomes a rifleman first!

Tom, congrats for cleaning the redcoat. You're just a couple of tweaks to your patch, too.

Looking forward to seeing you on the line, again!

Kim
