On THURSDAY 8/14, the MD Appleseed team held at pilot weekday Appleseed. This pilot event was one day. A big thank you to the host club, instructors and students who made this sell out event a success. For months we have been discussing at a state level how to make the program more available to others. A side effect of this was a weekday event. The program was well received and sold out even though it was posted only 4 weeks before the event date. We are reviewing the event and feedback to discuss how to maximize the potential.
The day brought us very pleasant weather for an August in Maryland. The line was filled with many first time Appleseed attendees as well as 5 youth shooters. While we didn't see any new Riflemen, one of our youth shooters (Jack) shot a 208 - TWICE! It sure is agonizing grading a 208 AQT! Keep it up Jack. A Rifleman persists.
Thanks to all of the students for a fun, safe day. An extra thanks to all of the adults who brought the youth shooters. I hope to see you all at another event soon.
