The McLean Appleseed began today, on the Holland Farm near McLean.
Readers of this post should get several perspectives, as I was able to show up for set up and intros, but I was unable to attend the rest of the day.
Steck (with Ratboy) ventured south of the I-80 Iron Curtain to SB today only; they could only come for one day.
I'll be there to SB tomorrow.
Lots of room; come on out and be a Sunday only walk on.
Any shooters, post your thoughts re: two different SB's in two days.
THANKS to the Holland Family for being such gracious hosts, and for cooking Lunch.
THANKS to GSL Defense Training for donating drinks, ice, and the use of several shade shelters. We had a covered firing line and shade behind the line as well.
THANKS to GunsSaveLife.com for promoting this shoot in GunNews and on their website, and for their general support of Appleseed.
Pictures and posts, let's have them.

We had a great time on Sunday!
Unfortunately, our four Taylorville shooters came out Sunday morning, got set up... and then were called away to a family concern and had to leave.
That left us the Doug's family, Terry, and a Sunday only walk on, Aaron.
They did a fantastic job; fun was had, marksmanship was improved, and ... (drum roll, please) ...
TWO NEW RIFLEMEN!
Doug crushed it with FOUR Rifleman scores in the 220's.
After fighting equipment problems with his new rifle, and switching to his old rifle, Aaron got anointed with North Bridge water (kept at April 19th temperatures in the cooler) with a score of 210!
Even better, Doug and his 15 year old daughter Ashlyn (a previous Rifleman) agreed to take Orange hats and become our newest IIT's! (Screen names to follow). Thanks for stepping up, Doug and Ashlyn!
In the first pic below, our youngest attendee (ok, I really mean our youngest spectator) was Carl, grandson of Bobby.
In the second pic below, our two newly appointed Orange Hats present a Young Patriot patch to Ashlyn's sister Olivia.
In the third pic below, Olivia, who was shooting prone from bags, shows off her FOUR SHOT, ONE HOLE group. She's well on her way to Rifleman.
As a break between AQT's, we did some fun shoots too.
One was a team contest - Standing at 25 meters, 10 rounds per shooter, one minute max, each team to pulverize three clay birds put on the berm.
The outcome - consensus was it was a tie. All three teams shredded their clay birds in just a few seconds. Some even chased the pieces as they fell down the berm - and hit the moving pieces!
Here are our three teams, each pointing to what was left of their group of clay birds.
What awesome pictures - and now I can say "Huzzah" to our new Orange Hats. What a pleasure to see such progress for such nice folks.
See you all on the trail !

Congratulations Doug and Ashlyn! Welcome to the team!
Many thanks Editor, Steck, Mutti And Shooter! We had a great weekend out shooting and honored to accept the orange hat, looking forward to learning the ropes.
Thank you everyone for welcoming us into the Appleseed family! I was interested in becoming an orange hat when I recieved my Rifleman patch, but now that I get the opportunity to do this I'm excited and honored.
Glad to welcome you, Quigley and Powder. Great names, too.

I like the new forum names! Look forward to seeing you both again and seeing a few more rifle women in the family.

Otta Ammo brought is CZ again. Both The Editor (above) and Boston shot a few rounds. :~ I think it is on Boston's short list of wants. There have been 4 or 5 people to shoot Otta Ammo's CZ who then go on to purchase. Every one wonders if he get a commision. ;D
A great weekend. Look forward to seeing everyone on the trail again soon.
