The long wait and seemingly endless 'one more thing' preparation finally ended when the first shot was fired on Saturday. YES! The fun had begun.

What a wonderful way to celebrate our history!
What improvement in marksmanship!
It never ceases to amaze me how great the young marines are. They are truly the leaders of the next generation. From the beginning to the end of the event they worked hard to apply the lessons. No complaining about the heat or equipment problems. Adapt and overcome were the norm.
I can't wait to see each of you at another Appleseed. Most of all, I look forward to handing each of you a Rifleman patch. With the determination I saw last weekend, it is only a matter of time.
We look forward to seeing each of you, your family, friends and staff members at an Appleseed real soon.

What a great weekend. This was my first time working with the Young Marines. From the Not-Quite-As-Young Marines I've known through my life, I had high hopes that it would be a fantastic event--and it was! These fine young women and men stuck to it through Saturday's humidity and soaked up the instruction and the history (and the hydration). Seeing young folks who had never handled a rifle before progress to putting good groups on paper by the end of Saturday was impressive. You are part of a wonderful program with a great heritage that is helping you learn important skills and values that will help you take your place as future leaders.
Thank you to the Young Marines for coming out. I was glad to hear many of you say you hope to come out and see us again at a future Appleseed--I hope to see you again, with your units and/or with your families. Unit staff--thank you for volunteering your time to work with these young people and for letting us work with your units. And thank you to the Capital Area Sportsmen's League for letting us use and camp at your beautiful facility.
Finally--congratulations to Zazzles on earning her PC3, and welcome aboard, Bright! I look forward to working with you! As you dig into history--see if you can find an April 19th minuteman or militiaman who later served in the Continental Marines. I'd like to have a new heritage story for the next Young Marine Seed!
It was a pleasure to work with such a great group af young people. With fine examples of disipline, persistance, and compassion. Qualities that exemplify not just Young Marines... But all Marines, OHH-RAH. The quality of their leadership was apparent by the conduct of ALL of the Young Marines. It was a pleasure to meet you fine people, and I hope to see you again.
Wow, what an awesome weekend to revive my hope for future generations of Americans. We had a lot to fit in and for the most part everyone carried his or her own load and made it happen. I saw some really impressive improvements in some of your shooting, and I expect most of you are only a few tries away from achieving that rifleman score on your qualifications.
Just for the record...I ordered a Zero Value breeze, with the sun.
Well I have to say that it was a pleasure to work with so many Young Marines that were enthusiastic to be at an Appleseed event and definitely brought a teachable attitude. Great group to work with. I wish we had more trigger time on Sunday. I'm sure there were some Riflemen scores to be had. I hope we can get the Young Marines out to more AppleSeed events that are in the areas they are from. They are a great group to work with.
They left my facility like the stealth ninja. The only way we knew they were here is that the place looked better. Thank you Tom (HammerForged) for the clean up of the Archery building. That was a delightful cleanup effort.
Zazzles, all I can say is You Rock! I was proud to see you get your Promotion to IIT3 and complete your PC3. You were Great! I have to say at 13 you are way ahead of your years on this planet. I only wish you could have had a chance to fire some rounds at a target to lay a score down that would have put up a goal for those Young Marines to see. Keep on your path, you are sure to reach your goals.
My negative for the weekend was that we need to pull rifles that aren't good for the shooter off the line when we know they are deficient. No sense in making a shooter struggle with a rifle when we have plenty of good loaners available. I would also suggest that fun shoots cover no more than 75 yards of level ground to get the heart rate up.
It appears number6 is missing a few ruger 10/22 magazines. Please check your gear for any items that were not returned.
We will need them for future Appleseeds.
