Sanner's Lake Sportsmen's club of Lexington Park, MD hosted a fantastic Appleseed this weekend. 16 shooters came out to learn to shoot and learn some history and heritage. They worked hard- and the results showed! We had a great mix of first time Appleseeders and those who have joined us at previous shoots.
All of our riflemen (and riflemen to be) were safe and attentive. We had a set of great attitudes, which showed when all sixteen returned Sunday morning ready for more! And boy did we see some great shooting on the line. Husband and wife team Ling and Claire showed the powerhouse shooting skills of Sanner's Lake. Both were first time attendees and both walked away with Distinguished Maryland front site patches (both scored at least 240 and cleaned the redcoat, Ling did it on irons!) Erin demonstrated the amazing perseverance of the Sanner's Lake set, by learning and improving all weekend even though she was fighting with a rear sight that was determined to work itself loose. Club president John kept us all well cared for (it seemed like he was popping up everywhere to attend to every need), but still managed to shoot a 241 while he wasn't driving "The Turtle Buggy" around to check on things around the range! And multiple repeat Appleseeder John brought his son along. John Jr is heading soon for the Navy, where he may get to put to good use some of the skills he honed this weekend. All told six new riflemen were made this weekend in Lexington Park.
We ended the weekend with a giant Huzzah! Chris has diligently attended every Appleseed he could for months now, persevering and working towards his Rifleman patch. Sunday it finally all came together for him - and he smoked the AQT again and again. To top it off, he immediately took an orange hat - he will be a fantastic addition to the Maryland instructor cadre!
Thank you to Sanner's Lake for hosting a terrific weekend for us- we look forward to returning for a Ladyseed this fall!
This really was an OUTSTANDING class! O0 O0 Thank you to Sanner's Lake for being such amazing hosts.. BeSwift
Fantastic news! I am particularly happy to hear of Chris's success. A classic example of "A Rifleman Persists"!

Thanks all!
Persistence paid off. That and some great instruction throughout the past months.
Thought optics would make it a piece of cake, I was sorely mistaken on that. Saturday my AQT was a whopping 130!
F.O.M., and relaxing was the key for me. Took awhile to get there. Loved the "Star" drill, and clearing the redcoats Sunday morning was a great confidence builder for sure.
Looking forward to moving forward as an instructor under training.
Great shoot this weekend, and was awesome to see people qualify with the centerfires.
Respectfully,
Chris
Big thanks to BSWIFT and the Gang. Great weekend especially being there to experience my great friend Chris Moriarty "get it".
BSWIFT, I've got an email in to the VA Coordinator requesting to become an Orange Hat.
Here are some pics because everyone likes pics
Thanks to Brian and his great team of instructors for making it a great day. ;D
I'm confident that we'll sell-out the upcoming October Ladyseed. We'll be looking to schedule ~6 Appleseeds in 2015, including hopefully a Winterseed in Jan-Feb.
Thanks again and congrats to all of the participants.
