Title: Liberty Training Rifle build for my Air Force son.
Post by: TN.Chaplain on June 22, 2014, 08:56:49 PM
My son that is in the Air Force attended his first Appleseed last summer and he loved it.  Due to scheduling he only was able to attend on Saturday.  He loved it.  He said that he learned more about proper marksmanship techniques in 1 day of Appleseed than he did at basic training.  While he was deployed I decided to build him a Liberty Training Rifle.  Attached are the pictures.  Thanks for looking.

In addition to AF Basic Training, I also had over six years of Air Force Security Forces training when I showed up to my first Appleseed. I too learned more in the first four hours of instruction than I'd learned in my entire Air Force career. And people want to say, "Oh, well, you guys don't really shoot in the Air Force." Not true at all. I learned to shoot a lot. I never learned to be a marksman! (Even though I had the medal to prove I was a "Small Arms Marksmanship Expert.")

I also never learned to change a magazine while my arm was tethered to the rifle....  :slap:

Glad to hear he was able to attend an event and learn so much. That's a pretty sweet rifle he has there. I look forward to hearing about his next event.

BTW, we have Appleseed challenge coins available on our website. Would look pretty cool next to those AF coins or even on LTR #2.

Slim,

Thanks for the comments.  My son went through basic in 2010.  He told me that his MTI was struggling taking the hand guards off of their M4s.  Therefore they never completely disassembled their rifle in basic.  Thank you for your service to our country.
