This weekend five wonderful ladies escaped the summer heat of the lowlands for some cooler weather in lovely Boone, NC. The Watauga Gun Club hosted our Ladyseed and we couldn't have asked for anything better (especially that chicken salad lunch on Sunday, yum!)!
Even with everyone being new to shooting or at least new to shooting rifles, we perservered and by Sunday morning 75% qualified at 100 yards on the redcoat target! Way to go, ladies!
In between courses of fire, we heard about April 19th, 1775 and learned about the sacrifices that were made for us.
On Sunday, the weather took a turn for the worse, but for the most part the rain held off until we were in the club house, listening to some stories about dangerous old men and patriots in petticoats from our IITs, learning how to take our shooting out to known distance, and getting some local history on a little battle called King's Mountain.
Beth, great job perservering through the entire weekend! You've got all the tools you need, a little practice and things will come together and you will find the Rifleman's Bubble! Don't forget to look up Common Sense by Thomas Paine.
Myra, I hope a good night's rest left you feeling better. You came such a long way from the start of the day on Saturday - remember, it takes most people at least three Appleseeds to earn their patch. You are doing an amazing job!
Carrie, wow! From not even being able to shoot on Saturday morning to qualifying at 100 yards on the redcoat target! Way to go! If you'd like to learn more about Libertyseed, the website is www.libertyseed.org
Reagan, way to hang in there with all of those malfunctions! You handled each and every one in the safest manner possible, and kept on going! You're well on your way to becoming a Rifle(wo)man already!
Laurie, fantastic job! I loved seeing your smiling face, even as we tried to sort out the trouble you were having with the rifle - you never let it get you down! Those groups were really coming together by the end of the weekend; good work!
I know some of the IITs have pictures from this weekend, please share them here.
Thank you, dreamerofdreams and armorborealis. It was a pleasure to work with you both.
Here are some pictures.

I have no idea why these pictures are showing up sideways. Sorry about that.
