We just wrapped up another successful Appleseed at the Mid Carolina Rifle Club in Gaston, SC.
Saturday started off with a traditional RWVA Red Coat. The results were a bit ragged, but one of our youngest shooters, Darrien, claimed the best results! The morning was spent working on those marksmanship fundamentals. In the afternoon we worked on the reloads, new positions, and transitions. The shooters were also able to challenge the AQT on Saturday afternoon. Of course, we enjoyed sharing the Three Strikes of the Match. The final Red Coat of the day was significantly improved. More sobering, however, were the results on a quiz about our knowledge of our own elected representatives and civic involvement.
Sunday kicked off with a Redcoat with significantly improved results. We reviewed the fundamentals then again tackled that AQT. Throughout the day we enjoyed hearing about some Patriots in Petticoats, Dangerous Old Men, and Gallant Children, as well as a flag tour. We also discussed how to apply the concepts learned at the 25 yard line out at distance. Finally, we wrapped up with a final Red Coat that left everyone knowing that they had individually and collectively improved their marksmanship skills.
Overall this was a great shoot. I had a blast working with our awesome instructional team and great crew of students. The Mid Carolina Rifle Club has continued to be a gracious host for us with a great facility.
