Title: Annapolis, MD - Anne Arundel Fish & Game May/24-25/2014
Post by: FFJim on May 26, 2014, 08:23:34 PM
Memorial Day Weekend provided beautiful weather for our Project Appleseed Event at Anne Arundel Fish & Game in Annapolis, MD.

24 dedicated Americans showed up for a weekend of marksmanship and heritage. Without a doubt this was one of my favorite shoots of the year. It was fantastic that we were blessed with (3) Father/Daughter pairs, (1) Father/Son pair, 5 active duty military and a large contingent of shooters with prior military service.

The attendees were a great mix of prior and first time attendees. Our prior students are doing a great job of showing up with new people (Chris and Jason your efforts are noticed!). Everyone was interested and engaged with the history lessons. The marksmanship instruction was also well received as was evident by the greatly improved shot groups and scores.

At the end of the weekend, Maryland was blessed with (2) new Riflemen - Kirt and Mark. We also had Jason requalify. Jason then agreed to accept and orange hat. We additionally had a new orange hat show up. It was neat for us to receive a polished orange hat from a RBC in Ramseur. Thanks to DonD and that crew!Kudos to all!

A special thanks to our youth shooters for persisting thru the weekend! Kudos to Kelsey, Payton, Victoria and Elisabeth.

Great shoot- and what a fantastic way to spend Memorial Day weekend!

I have to say, telling strikes and teaching marksmanship for veterans who have been there and done that (and have the scars to prove it) is a truly humbling experience. I am absolutely honored to get the chance to work with you guys. Thanks for coming out, and thank you for your service.

Big thanks to FF Jim and the rest of the crew.  It was a weekend full of great weather, great instruction, and great friendships both old and new.

Looking forward to getting more involved.  The Hampton Roads Tidewater area is starving for Appleseed events.

I touched base with the owner of C2 a few weeks ago and He'd be happy to host events.  Not sure how to press forward to actually making it happen, but I'd be happy to help out any way I can.

Was awesome to shoot with the group again, even better to see my best friend Kirt (AMHLDO) qualify Rifleman on his first Appleseed!  Humbling, but way Cool!

My other buddy Mark earned his on this past shoot also.

I need help with NPOA.  I'm dry firing, and even went to the range this morning, WITH THE MAT! LOL....NEVER will I shoot off the bench again, unless preparing for a BR shoot.

Needless to say I'm "All-In" on this Project Appleseed stuff.  Figured I'd post something up on here.....let you all know I have not QUIT, and do not intend to.

I need a new front sight, my original one.....while making an adjustment at the range today, stripped out the screw.  Replacement is enroute.  Looking forward to the Sanners Lake shoot.

Hey Chris, welcome! Took you long enough to sign up here.  ;D

When John came up to AGC a few weeks back, we shot an NPOA drill with him that I think you probably haven't done. Ask him about the "star drill", and then drag him along to Sanner's so you can help each other shoot it. You just need a blank piece of paper with a 1" dia target in the center (draw a circle with a marker or use a sticker target circle). It can be frustrating- but it can also be a very good illustration of NPOA.

Meanwhile, print this out-

-tape it to a wall, and use it for your dryfire practice at home.

(Other fun targets here- http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=9833.0 (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=9833.0))

Keep up with the practicing, and we'll see you in a few weeks at Sanner's

Kirt, nice shooting! Thanks for stepping forward about C2. Hopefully, we may see you down there later this year!

Right on Andy!

I have the 10 ft AQT, WOW....those are TINY!

I'll drag John to Sanners with me, when he can.  It is possible he may be able to get into the next shoot there.

IF your coming down to the next shoot, do you need a place to crash?  I could offer up the man cave...., has its own bathroom and all.  Let me know.

Would be great to grab a beer with you after the shoot.
