A crew of Seven participants attended the Audobon event this past weekend; skill levels varied from beginner to more skilled. All pre signed shooters attended both days, although there was one walk-on that attended only Saturday. All arrived on time and ready for the day.
Saturday morning opened as always with Introductions, welcomes, and an Appleseed safety briefing. Our first Red Coat of the weekend set a mark with several shingle hits, but no max effective range noted at 100-400 yes; by the following day the max effective range was placed at 300 yds. There were several shingle hits. None cleared the Red Coat but three did come quite close and will certainly have sufficient accuracy with practice..
The Shooters progressed well though the event into Sunday and the was a marked improvement in accuracy and COF progress; some showed remarkable promise on the AQT and did group nicely, sometimes on target, but sometimes with a nice group even if it was off target. Several shooters showed the rapid improvement of those who bring a teachable attitude, and all had moments of great accuracy to show those at home.
There were no remarkable safety issues to report; the heat made water consumption a topic in the safety briefing and in between courses of fire.
The day ended with a roundtable discussion about the weekend, handshakes, and anticipation for the next event. Photographs are linked on Project Appleseed, PA (Place link in Google/Bing) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10203672631678648&set=pcb.712997898757495&type=1&theater
