Title: Rice Lake (Brill Area SC), WI May 17-18, 2014
Post by: Taylor on May 19, 2014, 12:29:52 PM
Mother nature finally smiled upon us in the form of some fine weather this past weekend at Brill Area Sportsmen's Club just north of Rice Lake. Being forced to cancel our April 19 shoot in Spooner was a bigger bummer than I could ever describe so it was great to finally start 2014 Appleseeding up in our corner of the state.

We spent two fantastic days teaching marksmanship to and honoring our Heritage with a group of eager, enthusiastic students. Although no new Riflemen were minted, there was plenty of potential shown on the line. Tony scored a 202, his 11 year old daughter Katherine as well as Gary and Dave all scored well into the 170s all at their first Appleseed. Oh, and did I mention that ALL were using iron sights and that three of the rifles on the line were spanking new Marlin LTRs?  O0 Young John, also 11, did a great job running Katherine's S&W MP-22 all weekend and with more experience under his belt is sure to improve. Thanks to John's Grandpa also John for bringing him to our event and spending the weekend with us and his donation to RWVA.

Thank you Brill Area Sportsmen's Club for hosting us again and putting out another delicious hot lunch both days.  ;D

This event owes it's success to the dedication of my fellow instructors Privateer and weaselwoods! Thank you for all you do guys.  O0

Pictures follow...

This course was exactly what I needed.  The other members of my team were also impressed at the professionalism of the instructors at this course.  I am already planning a trip back in the fall.  It is too much to learn in a weekend, but they sent us home with the skills to practice and in time we will score over 210.  Thank you to all involved in this organization and for "awakening" our inner patriots.

I can't take credit for all the photos...we passed my camera around and Privateer and weaslewoods took quite a few.
