Patriots Day! What a great weekend with some fine American on the line and Easter being the icing on the cake. Wind and rain made Saturday interesting but Sunday we couldn't have asked for better weather. Low turn-out but the ones there were shooters. Josh, (13yo) at his second seed is showing great improvement and no doubt will be a Rifleman soon. Ivan showed sparks of brilliance and will join the Rifleman ranks at his next event. Bill at his second Appleseed (scoring Rifleman at his first) showed us several more expert scores. Adam and John worked there tails off both turning in Rifleman scores on Sunday. Congrats guys! Several instructors had the opportunity to requal with Margie (Appleseed Widow) turning in an impressive 228, Milt (Duc-Dog) a 230 something, and yours truly turned in a personal best of 245. Richard will be advancing to IIT4. Congrats Richard and great job this weekend! Two participants were at their second seed, both Rifleman...And I'm proud to say both accepted the challenge to take an Orange Hat. Bill and Glenn, thank you both for stepping up and look forward to working with both of you and America will be better for it. Did I mention Glenn is 16? A fine young man from a fine God fearing family. :).....
Welcome Bill and Glenn. Thank you for taking the orange hat. (It's actually an orange bailing bucket) Thanks for helping us bail!.
Congratulations Richard! You'll have that Red Hat shortly. You're in good hands.
As always, the Roswell team is a great looking crew. Milt's beard would. fit in very well in the Northwest region.
WOW, did we really have that much FUN in Roswell.... YouBetcha!! rain on Saturday and sun on Sunday. Thanks for the patient and professional instructors. Special Thanks to Margie for diagnosing my trigger twitching and helping fix the problem. I still have finger imprints in my shoulder. But...."Pain is a Good Teacher!" Now starts the trail to precision instructing and shooting, one baby step at a time. I look forward to making progress in bailing and passing along the knowledge.
What a great weekend for remembering both Patriots Day and Easter. Even the rain on Saturday didn't put too much of a damper on our eager students. Ivan was knocking on the rifleman's door hard, I am sure had he been able to attend Sunday, he would have joined the ranks of Adam and John as Rifleman. I look forward to working with Glenn and Bill as instructors in training.....I will have to watch over my shoulder for payback, Bill....hope the arm isn't too sore. @) Richard did an outstanding job. Soon he will be putting Bill and Glenn to work and slacking off like the rest of us, LOL.
We were sorry not more of you were able to return Sunday, but it did give the instructors a chance to re-qualify. OL gave us all a challenge to aspire to with his 245! Just to let you know students, instructors are required to continue to practice and improve and learn just like we ask you to do.....
Thanks to all who came out for the weekend, we hope to see you again at the next Seed.
Until then,
Margie aka Appleseed Widow
