Appleseed should really consider having a windseed patch (a knock off the winterseed) because of the wind that we had to deal with this weekend. Here in Fresno we have always had problem with the wind at that particular range, but I haven't seen anything like this: usually when we added extra weight to the target backers they stay up, but this time they blow over at least three times on Saturday. We did pretty much everything short of driving long stakes into the ground to keep them up this time. The wind even picked up the Pop-Up we were using for shade and put a nice scratch on Garand56's truck :-(
But, despite the annoyance, four shooters persevered this weekend. Congratulations to Joyce and Bryan for scoring riflemen for the first time with 211 and 212 respectively, and to Matt and Jason (Big J) for requalifying with 217 and 230 respectively.
I also want to give props to Hunter, who is 8, for being able to stick it out for both days: he's going to make an excellent riflemen someday!
All in all, It was a great weekend!
Hunter can't wait for this next Appleseed and neither can his mom and dad. Thank you again for an excellent weekend.
Krahnic did a great job as SBIT, and thanks to Chukar Hunter and Scotty L33T who came out to help as well.
Hi guys. I just wanted to take a moment and once again say a big THANK YOU to the volunteers. Without you, these stories don't get told. And they need to be told.
I am so proud of my lady Joyce and nephew Bryan! They worked hard at earning their patches, and it was so cool to watch them reach their goals!
This was our third Appleseed and each has been a fun and unique experience. One lasting impression from this one for us was the 13 shot salute to those who fell April 19 1775. That's a moment our family won't soon forget, so thank you for that as well.
Also thanks for mentioning the book Paul Revere's Ride. I have already grabbed my copy and started reading.
We'll be back again, count on it!
What a great weekend! A big THANK YOU to Joseph, David, Scott and Steven! You all were very helpful, knowledgeable and provided us with a a safe environment.
Our nephew and I were THRILLED to meet our goal of earning our Rifleman patches. To do it on the 239th anniversary of our Revolution just made it all the more special. Having my husband, BigJ and our buddy Matt re-qualify as Rifleman was icing on the cake.
Coming away from the event, our nephew even mentioned that he someday would love to be an instructor so he can keep teaching kids. That to me epitomized what the Appleseed Project is all about and made Jason and I feel very proud that he "gets it".
It was also a pleasure to be surrounded by some great families and individuals who are like-minded people. I took a few photos of day two and having asked those in the photos first, I'll share soon.
As Jason mentioned, thanks for telling us about the suggested Paul Revere book...I am reading it next.
My next two Appleseed goals: 1. Do well in a Known Distance Appleseed event 2. Beat Jason's highest score. ;)

Some pictures from our second day of our great Appleseed weekend.
Ok, allow me to try that again.
