What an outstanding weekend! We could not have had better weather (although you would think instructors would remember that even on cool days sunburn is possible - we all fried.) The shooters were absolutely outstanding students and it was a joy to work with them. We all came away from the event inspired and energized. Congrats to E-Squared and Irie for taking Blue Hats as they chase after that rifleman's score. We have several future Orange hats in the pipeline from this event and it was a joy to watch them in their quest. Joe, Cam, Cody, Clida, Brandi, Ryan: keep it up. A rifleman persists! You will get there!
A huge thank you to Centerline of Calhoun County for supporting us and hosting the event. Special huge thanks to all my instructors and Blue Hats who came out on this busy family weekend. I truly believe I had the right people at exactly the right time. The instruction was excellent and the history was moving. Well done!
Now, :pics: let's post them up!
Graywolf,
You would think many of us, living in Michigan so look would have known to put on suntan lotion.
I guess even as we get older, we forget to take care.
(I had some on the truck).
Maybe the winter was just too long, too cold, and too much snow?
The shoot on Saturday was great, and I enjoyed all the positive attitude, both shooters and Instructors.
Well done!
Sunscreen??? We don't need no sunscreen.. ok so some of us should of put some on over the course of the weekend..
I agree with everyone it was a great weekend, as always it was a blast... hahahaha, and it was really cool to have all the new shooters out on the line. Congratulations to E-Squared and Irie on taking Blue Hats.
LOL @ Click. Apparently we ALL need sunscreen, just some of us more than others.
What a wonderful weekend. Someone asked me recently why I give so much of my time to this organization. The shooters this weekend are exactly the answer to that question. From 38 degrees on Saturday morning, to the 73 degrees Sunday afternoon it sure wasn't an easy comfortable weekend. Layers coming off, going back on and coming off again with no issues on the line. Everyone was adjusting slings correctly with whatever they had on. And no "major" safety issues, just need to remember to sing the safe rifle song as you are taking the actions :)
Saturday was windy, but warmed up nicely and the shooters responded to the April 19th message. We saw people not even on paper in the morning start shooting respectable groups by early afternoon. And the history was amazing. I love hearing the Three Strikes any day, but this particular day, there was a poignant message knowing that it was the anniversary of the day. Nothing against Graywolf or BillWinkle (who both did AMAZING) but listening to Beefree tell second strike from Hannah's perspective gets me every time. It's my favorite piece of history.
To our shooters, Will- great attitude and lots of progress. keep practicing and we will see you with your patch soon.
Ryan - Lots of issues with the rifle, but you persevered through them, hope to see you again, patch is not far off for you.
Brandi - great improvements, let's go out and spend some time with the rifle and you will have your patch in no time.
Jon - great to have you join us, missed you on Sunday. Making great strides toward your goal, hopefully you will come back and join us. Alex - great job Saturday, wish we would have seen you come back Sunday, you were taking big steps toward your goals.
Joe - amazing job. keep working on the positions and the timing will come quickly. Every confidence that patch will be yours soon.
Irie - I adore your spunk. Even with some issues of getting sighted in, you were right on top of everything and soaking up the instruction. You did an awesome job all weekend and congrats on the blue hat, I will see you soon.
Macey - making progress, very impressed with your determination. That last AQT stage 4 was wonderful.
Myki - Nice to see you in a hat, thanks for the help on Sunday. You had some really good stages to your AQT's. Let's put it all in one, and you will be over that hump.
Cam - much improvement this weekend, and you had some great enthusiasm. Hope to see you soon.
Clida - I was impressed. your determination is admirable. I loved watching your scores continue to climb. Next time :)
Thank you all for making my job a joy. Will see you all soon!
